We are all familiar with the skin problem “acne”! Apart from lowering your confidence level, sometimes acne can also leave scars or redness. Acne scars are not easy to get rid of and often require special treatments/care! So, what are the causes and what can we do to reduce and even overcome it? Let’s read more, Sereni-trees!

Why does “redness” occur with acne?

Inflamed acne can lead to the appearance of redness on our skin. This happens because of the inflammation of the skin. Especially if we don’t maintain good hygiene or don’t treat acne properly! Pores that are clogged with sebum (the skin’s natural oil) and dirt are one of the contributing factors. If we don’t clean it often, our skin will turn into a good environment for the growth and proliferation of bacteria.

We must overcome this problem immediately! Clogged pores can lead to inflammation of the skin. This is a factor in the “redness” of our skin. In addition, there is also a high risk of bacterial infection! Bacteria like Propionibacterium acnes can trigger our body’s immune response. The result? The skin area becomes red and inflamed!

Therefore, before the acne problem gets worse, we should solve it by choosing the right skincare and maintaining skin hygiene!

Here’s how to deal with acne redness

Relax Sereni-Trees! Of course, there is a way out of this problem. You can do some of the steps below to relieve and resolve inflammation on the skin:

Routinely cleanse your face/skin

At least wash your face at least twice using a cleanser that is suitable for your skin. Try to avoid products with harsh chemicals and always check skin reactions to avoid the risk of allergies.

Use ice cubes

Do you have inflammatory skin? Soothe skin inflammation with ice cubes. Ice cubes can help constrict blood vessels to reduce inflammation. Simply apply ice cubes wrapped in a cloth on the reddish area for 10 minutes. This is also useful for swollen skin!

Use products with anti-inflammatory ingredients

Examples of recommended ingredients that reduce inflammation are niacinamide or salicylic acid. But make sure your skin is compatible with these ingredients!

Use of acne patches

Acne patches or acne stickers are made of hydrocolloid material, which is a material that can absorb liquid effectively. It is also useful for protecting acne from contamination and reducing inflammation. (Notes: This product is effective for: superficial acne, such as pus-filled acne, blackheads, and whiteheads)

Sometimes if the inflammation is severe, you can also consult a dermatologist for further treatment such as special treatments such as laser therapy or consumption of drugs. Try these steps first!

Can you camouflage redness with makeup?

If you’re at an event and want to temporarily disguise the redness of your acne, makeup can be one solution! The first step is to keep your skin moisturized with a moisturizer. Don’t just choose a moisturizer, use a hypoallergenic and gentle moisturizer. Hypoallergenic means that a product contains fewer ingredients that can cause allergies on the skin. Why is moisturizing the skin the first step before applying makeup? It prepares our skin, maintains makeup durability and prevents cracking of makeup.

Next, we can use concealer! Choose a concealer with a thick texture and a color that is close to your skin. If the redness is severe, you can neutralize it with a green concealer before applying the cushion/bb cream/foundation.

The last step is setting the makeup using powder. This will lock in the makeup for a longer time and reduce the shine on the skin due to excess oil. So easy, right? But remember Sereni-Trees, this is only meant to disguise NOT as a permanent solution. You still have to take care of your acne and redness!

Natural Anti-Inflammatory and Redness Ingredients

If you have very sensitive skin, you can switch to skincare with natural ingredients as an alternative. Although it does not guarantee 100%, the risk of allergies or ingredient incompatibility will be less. Here are some ingredients you can try:

White Turmeric

Not just a kitchen spice, this natural ingredient is full of curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. You can try Serenitree’s white turmeric soap bar as a solution.

Sweet Almond Oil

This natural ingredient is perfect for moisturizing the skin WITHOUT clogging the pores. So for those with oily skin types, it’s definitely safe!

Licorice Root Extract

Licorice root extract is full of antioxidants so it’s good for reducing skin redness and irritation, as well as helping to fade acne scars. Less irritating too! Product recommendation: Serenitree calming body wash.

Calendula Extract

Calendula flower extract is no less effective as a solution for inflamed skin. It stimulates the regeneration of skin cells and has a calming effect on the inflamed area.

You can find all these natural ingredients in Serenitree’s body care range! Safe for pregnant women, breastfeeding, and children. Are you sure you don’t want to try it?

Not only from habits and skincare use, there are also some foods as a solution to relieve skin redness and inflammation! You can regularly drink green tea, which is rich in polyphenols that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It’s also beneficial for your overall health!

Another option is to consume fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, or sardines. Besides being delicious, these fish also have anti-inflammatory properties! Routine consumption of fish also has other benefits: improving heart health and eye health.

In conclusion, to reduce redness and acne, we need support from several aspects, starting from maintaining cleanliness, using the right skincare, and consuming a good diet. It is not easy and instant, but with patience and perseverance, this problem can definitely be solved. Are Sereni-Trees interested in taking these steps?

Increasingly sophisticated technology encourages various innovative solutions in the world of skincare. One of them includes acne stickers or what are commonly known as “acne patches”. Usually we use this product in the form of stickers on the facial area (T-zone: forehead, nose, chin) which is more prone to acne. But it does not rule out the possibility to be used in other acne-prone areas such as the back or chest. How come acne can be solved with stickers? How effective and what are the side effects of this product? Instead of being curious, let’s learn more about this trendy skincare product!

Get to know how acne stickers work and function

Acne patches are currently one of the most popular products, especially for those with acne problems. In the form of a small plaster, we just need to stick the sticker directly on the pimple to help dry it out faster. While most acne patches come in the form of small transparent stickers, there are also some that have striking and cute shapes such as stars, hearts, and even flowers! The purpose of attractive designs is not only to “sell”, but also to fight the stigma attached to acne and reduce the negative impact on self-confidence.

This acne sticker says, acne is a very common and normal problem! Up to 50 million people per year experience acne. Acne does not only affect those going through puberty. As many as 15 percent of adult women also experience acne, although some surveys show a higher figure of more than 50 percent (Data from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD)).

Now let’s talk about how they work! Acne stickers are generally made of a wound-healing gel called hydrocolloid. This gel absorbs the fluid from the pimple and covers the wound to prevent further trauma, such as the habit of squeezing pimples. They work best on pimples that are already open, oozing, and in the process of healing. So, it doesn’t just work for all types of acne!

Don’t Use Acne Stickers If…

We need to remember that these stickers are only a spot treatment for active acne and DO NOT have the ability to:

Prevents new acne breakouts

Clears clogged pores

Addresses root causes and other factors that cause acne

Reduces black and whiteheads

Not effective for cystic acne & breakouts

In other words, if Sereni-Trees experiences cystic acne, massive breakouts, or other skin problems due to acne patches will not provide an adequate solution.

Another important note, if you have very sensitive skin, you should avoid using this product as there is a risk that the affected area will become even more dry and irritated! Also, pay attention to whether your skin is allergic or not before use. Additionally, prolonged use of the stickers can also cause skin irritation. Therefore, just use it as recommended by the product, Sereni-Trees!

Pros and Tips for Using Acne Stickers

These acne stickers are popular because of some of the benefits we can get from them. Here are the positive benefits if we use them appropriately:

Accelerate healing:

By absorbing fluids and toxins from acne, acne patches can further speed up the healing process.

Practical and easy to use:

All you have to do is stick it on clean skin, easy and quick right? No wonder why these stickers are popular!

Protects against contamination:

This patch protects acne from external bacteria and pollution, reducing the risk of infection.

Discourage the habit of squeezing pimples:

By covering up acne, we can prevent the habit of squeezing which can cause scars. Not bad, you don’t have to squeeze your hand!

Reduces redness and inflammation:

This product aims to reduce redness and inflammation in the affected area.

Sun protection:

This patch also protects the healing acne from sun exposure. As you all know Sereni-Trees, UV rays can slow down healing!

Cultivate self-confidence:

Having acne problems can certainly lower your confidence level. Well, these stickers will provide positive support for our mental fight against acne!

Wow, there are also many benefits! But with a note that all these benefits must go hand in hand with the right way to use it. Serenitree spill some steps that you should not forget:

Clean the skin first

Apply to clean and dry skin. If used on wet skin, these stickers may not adhere well!

Choose a size that suits your acne. Don’t go too big or too small!

Avoid using other skincare products (may affect sticker adhesion)

Use as recommended by the instructions. Each product is different, some we can use at night or day.

Replace stickers and don’t reuse them.

It’s so easy, right? But to be on the safe side, consult your dermatologist! After all, overcoming acne will certainly be different according to each skin condition.

An Alternative to Pimple Stickers

Aside from acne stickers, there are also other skin treatments that we can try! We can look for skincare with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide as effective acne solutions.

Usually when the acne condition is severe, dermatologists will provide us with other solutions such as topical medications (made from adapalene, azelaic acid, dapsone, retinoic acid, tretinoin), oral medications (spironolactone or isotretinoin), antibiotics (clindamycin, erythromycin), injections (steroids or cortisone), and other acne-specific medical treatments!

Is there a natural solution? Of course! You can choose skincare or bodycare with natural ingredients such as Coconut Oil and Turmeric. These natural ingredients have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory functions so that they can effectively relieve inflammation and help the acne healing process.

For natural bodycare recommendations that are safe for back acne, you can try Serenitree’s bar soap and body wash! Contains natural ingredients without harsh chemicals such as SLS, parabens, phthalates, or synthetic fragrances. It’s perfect as a solution for sensitive skin and acne. Not to mention, it’s safe for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children (3 and 6 years old). Are you sure you don’t want to try it?

This rainy season can make our skin vulnerable to all kinds of diseases. Humid air and wet conditions can be a haven for viruses and fungi! Coupled with the lack of sunlight. Therefore, we must be prepared by being vigilant and keeping our skin healthy during the rainy season. Let’s recognise the 5 most common diseases that we can prevent!

Identify common skin diseases during the rainy season

Let’s start by discussing some common types of skin diseases. By knowing the type and cause, we can then determine the right solution!

Athlete’s Foot (Tinea Pledis)

Symptoms of athlete’s foot can include a red rash that feels moist between the toes. Often, this skin disease is also accompanied by itching.

The main cause of this disease is the various dermatophytes fungi that often appear during the rainy season (humid air). These fungi can appear due to various things such as: prolonged use of closed footwear, sweaty feet, lack of hygiene, and visiting public places barefoot.

Remember that athlete’s foot is contagious, so it’s best not to exchange footwear or toiletries!

Acne

While acne can appear at any time of the year, the rainy season often exacerbates the condition. The combination factor is the humidity in the air and the increased oil production by the skin.

Why does skin oil production increase? It’s because of the cold temperatures that our skin naturally produces more oil to moisturise the skin. In addition, taking a hot shower can also make your skin vulnerable to damage and aggravate acne.

Ringworm

Ringworm is also one of the culprits in the rainy season that occurs due to a fungal infection. Symptoms can include a circular red rash on areas such as the feet, hands, face, and groin. Not just skin, even nails can be affected by ringworm!

It’s caused by rising temperatures and excessive sweating. Ringworm can also breed and be contagious, so be sure to treat it right away.

Prickly heat

Similar to acne, prickly heat has symptoms of a small, red rash. But they often cause itching and discomfort! Generally, we hear that prickly heat is very common in babies or children. However, the rainy season makes it difficult for sweat to evaporate quickly so even adults are susceptible to this skin disease.

There are various types of prickly heat, from Miliaria Kristalina to Miliaria Rubra. Therefore, it is best to consult the symptoms of prickly heat with a professional to get the best solution.

Skin Allergies

During the rainy season, our skin gets less exposure to the sun. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. UV rays are good for providing vitamin D to the body so that it can protect itself from various diseases. This is one of the reasons why skin allergies like dermatitis can get worse when it rains.

In addition, some people are allergic to certain allergens in rainwater, known as Urticaria. The symptoms are similar, with a rash and itching after being exposed to or touching rainwater (which can also be from water sources, snow, etc.).

It turns out that even though it may feel cool and comfortable, the rainy season can bring a variety of skin diseases if we are not careful! After knowing the type of disease, don’t forget to avoid the potential causes, Sereni-Trees.

5 Serenitree Recommended Solutions

Don’t worry, there’s always a solution to every skin problem, especially if we take care of it as early as possible. The most important thing is the habit of maintaining personal hygiene. If our environment is always clean and dry, fungi and viruses will not run rampant. The same goes for body hygiene, especially if we are exposed to rainwater, immediately dry it and bathe regularly to avoid ringworm or prickly heat.

Next, we have to pay attention to footwear. Sereni-Trees who wear closed footwear everyday for too long can cause excessive sweating of the feet. These conditions are ideal for the growth of athlete’s foot and other infections! Therefore, if you must use closed footwear, choose footwear that has good airflow. The same goes for socks! We recommend choosing cotton socks as they absorb sweat and moisture well. Also, make sure that the socks are dry when you use them!

Let’s continue with the habit of scratching the skin. The cold air during the rain can certainly make the skin dry and itchy. This can be a problem, especially if you have a skin condition like prickly heat. In this case, scratching the skin can actually worsen and spread the infection to other areas! The same goes for exfoliation. Not only does it spread infection, over-exfoliation can also leave your skin vulnerable and irritated! So, don’t scratch your skin or exfoliate excessively!

Lastly and equally important, Sereni-Trees must still use medication as the safest and quickest solution. Although there are various herbal alternatives, it is still best to consult and use the appropriate medication. Here are some recommended skin disease medications from Serenitree:

For acne conditions, use skincare with: Salicylic acid, Azelaic acid, AHA, BHA, Tea tree oil, Benzoyl peroxide, and Aloe vera extract.

For athlete’s foot, we can choose creams or medications such as: Clotrimazole, Miconazole, Ketoconazole, and others. (Note: each cream can treat a different type of fungal infection).

Examples of potent ringworm medications include: Kalpanax, Fungiderm, Daktarin, Canesten, and the like.

We can get rid of prickly heat with: Caladine (lotion/powder), Herocyn, Diprosalic, and others.

Some natural ingredients to take care of your skin during the rainy season: Coconut oil (anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, moisturising), Sweet almond oil (relieves irritation and inflammation), and White turmeric (reduces redness and treats fungal infections). Find these natural ingredients in Serenitree body care.

In conclusion, those are some of the solutions you can try to treat these 5 common skin ailments during the rainy season! Again, if your symptoms worsen or don’t go away, you should consult a doctor immediately. Don’t forget to keep your skin healthy and moisturised during the rainy season with Serenitree soaps, lotions and hand creams!

Of course, oily skin types are prone to various skin problems, one of the most common being acne and blackheads. It is also difficult to apply make-up because the skin will produce more oil than its normal level. What can we do to solve this problem? The solution is to incorporate natural astringents into our skincare routine. Want to know what it is and how? Stay tuned, Sereni-Trees!

Getting to know Astringent

Similar to toners, astringents are water-based skincare products that cleanse impurities from the skin’s pores. Although not all, most astringent products contain alcohol content such as Isopropyl. On the other hand, there are always natural alternatives that act as natural astringents. However, the use of these products is more suitable for acne-prone or oily skin. Why?

Other benefits of astringents themselves include:

Shrinks pores

Astringents can reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, giving the skin a smoother and firmer appearance.

Control excess oil

This product can help reduce excess oil production on the skin, reduce excess shine, and prevent breakouts.

Removing residual dirt

Astringents are suitable for removing the remnants of dirt, oil, and dust that remain after washing your face.

Reduces inflammation

Some astringents contain anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredients that help reduce inflammation in the skin, such as in acne or sensitive skin.

We can see from the benefits, it’s more suitable for oily or acne-prone skin! If those of us with sensitive/dry skin use astringents frequently, our skin may become even drier and irritated! That’s why if you are interested in trying it, you should choose a product that suits your skin type, problems, and natural ingredients with minimal synthetic chemicals. It’s even better to consult your needs first!

How is Astringent Different from Toner?

Although similar in texture, there are some differences between these two skincare products. Firstly, the composition of the ingredients. Toners often use glycerin and glycolic ingredients while astringents are water-based with a higher content of synthetic or natural alcohol (natural astringents) than toners. Therefore, we can conclude from their formulations that toners are more open to all skin types and astringents are more suitable for those with oily or acne-prone skin.

While astringents have several functions, their main purpose is to control oil and shrink pores. Meanwhile, toners have different specifications (depending on each product), ranging from balancing the skin’s pH, providing light hydration, and cleansing the skin.

Which one to choose, toner or astringent? It all comes down to your skin type and concerns, Sereni-Trees! But generally for those with oily/acne-prone skin, astringents are more effective and those with sensitive or dry skin can use toners. Also make sure when choosing both products, avoid too harsh chemicals. It’s best to choose the natural ingredient option to minimise the risk!

Natural Astringent Alternatives as a Solution

The power of natural ingredients is endless! We don’t have to sacrifice our skin health by looking for effective products with high alcohol content. Simply choose products with natural substitutes sourced from plant extracts, fruits, or organic ingredients such as:

Green Tea

Green tea is rich in antioxidants such as catechins that help fight free radicals and combat the signs of ageing. In addition, the tannin content in green tea provides astringent properties. Tannins can shrink pores, control excess oil production, and provide a firming effect on the skin. Acne development will also be reduced with the cleansing antiseptic properties of green tea!

Lemon Water

The ascorbic acid content in lemons is what acts like a natural astringent that can tighten the skin and shrink pores. As a bonus, lemon is also a natural ingredient that can brighten and even out skin tone.

Chamomile

Active substances such as bisabolol have anti-inflammatory properties and can soothe inflamed skin. Meanwhile, flavonoids have astringent properties that are responsible for shrinking pores. Additionally, chamomile can also provide a refreshing effect and protect the skin from pollution.

Rose Water

The phenyl ethyl alcohol and tannin content of rose water is like a natural astringent! This is useful for providing a firming effect. Rose water can also cleanse, moisturise, and give a refreshing effect afterwards].

Witch Hazel

One of the most popular natural ingredients as a natural astringent is plant-derived witch hazel. Witch hazel is rich in antioxidant compounds such as tannins and polyphenols that are suitable for treating acne-prone skin or preventing acne/infection (anti-bacterial properties).

The 5 natural ingredients above are popular options for replacing synthetic astringent products. But don’t forget that even though natural ingredients are less risky, make sure your skin isn’t sensitive or allergic before using them!

Tips for Using Astringent Ala Serenitree

Interested in starting to use astringents in your skincare routine? Don’t make the wrong move! Serenitree will spill the right steps to use this skincare. Avoid using it incorrectly that can lead to skin damage!

Always start with clean skin

Clean skin makes it easier for any skincare to be absorbed properly. Make sure to use a cleanser according to your skin type, remove all makeup, and gently pat dry.

Application of astringent using cotton wool

This is to minimise contamination due to direct contact with hands as well as to remove dirt on the face. Try to avoid sensitive areas such as the lips or near the eyes.

Let it set before continuing to apply moisturiser

Allow the product to absorb well and then start using other skincare products such as moisturiser. As we all know, astringents can dry out your face, so always apply moisturiser afterwards!

On another note, we should avoid using retinol or alpha hydroxy acids (AHA). It’s best to consult beforehand so that the active ingredients don’t collide with each other and react negatively.

For Serenitree Squad who are curious about natural astringents, you can first try using Serenitree’s Anti Aging Hand Cream variant with Green Tea Extract. Regular use can certainly result in healthy nails and moisturised and youthful hand skin, interesting right?

Acne is a common problem for many people, not only on the face, but also on various parts of the body. The causes vary from using the wrong skincare products, being exposed to harsh chemicals, lack of hygiene or consuming too much sweet or oily food. One of the actions we often do to deal with acne is to squeeze it. However, is this really safe? Are there any medical risks? Well, this article will discuss whether or not squeezing acne is safe and provide guidance on how to get rid of acne safely and effectively.

Don’t let the method you choose have a negative impact on your skin!

The Origin of Acne

Acne is a skin disorder that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with sebum (skin oil), dead skin cells, and bacteria. There are several types of acne, namely: Blackheads, Whiteheads, Papules, Pustules, Nodules and Cysts. Not only the types, the causative factors are also diverse! Acne can come from genetic factors, hormonal (generally teenagers), hygiene and the food we consume.

Therefore, we can say that not all types of acne are the same and need different treatments. So, is squeezing acne the ideal way to get rid of acne?

Why Squeezing Acne is Not Recommended?

Indeed, the urge to squeeze “ripe” pimples is sometimes uncontrollable! Moreover, the general public opinion says that acne will disappear by squeezing. Actually, it’s true, the method of squeezing acne has been around for a long time. However, most of the results instead of curing, can cause risks such as:

Possible Infections and Wounds

Squeezing pimples can open small wounds on the skin, increasing the risk of infection. Especially if we don’t maintain hygiene and use the wrong method! Bacteria from the hands can also easily enter and cause more severe inflammation. It’s really bad if you end up with a new wound that leads to infection!

Risk of Scars

Improper acne extraction can cause scars that are difficult to remove! Acne scars are more difficult than getting rid of the acne itself. This can certainly interfere with appearance and reduce self-confidence. If that’s the case, it can even cause stress and make acne more rampant!

Worse Inflammation

As we discussed earlier, improper and unhygienic squeezing of acne instead of getting rid of it can aggravate acne inflammation. Pimples that were initially small can become larger and more painful.

Aside from the negative risks above, the main reason why this acne popping method is not recommended by Serenitree is because each type of acne has its own treatment! For example, to get rid of blackheads we can go to a skin specialist and do a facial treatment (blackhead extraction). As for cystic acne, it depends on the severity. Treatment can include acne medications such as antibiotics, retinoids, or even isotretinoin (specialist prescription).

So, even though the tools we use are clean, we should consult first before removing acne or at least research first. Don’t let the negative impact be more acne than the acne problem itself, Sereni-Trees!

How to Get Rid of Acne Safely

Take it easy, acne is a problem that we can overcome safely! Although it takes consistency and time. Nothing good is ever instant!

Here are our suggestions in terms of acne prevention and treatment. Hope you find them useful!

Skin Specialist Consultation

The first step is to consult a dermatologist. They can provide a professional assessment of our skin condition and prescribe the right treatment according to the type of acne! Unfortunately, not everyone has access to a dermatologist consultation. Alternatively, we can consult online, research on trusted health sites, consult at beauty clinics, and many more!

Reduce Oil and Sweets Consumption

Foods that are high in fat (fast food) and sugar (sugary drinks like bubble tea) can affect the skin’s natural oil production, resulting in clogged pores and acne breakouts! Make sure we control what we consume to keep it balanced!

Use acne-specific and non-comedogenic products

Choose skincare products that are specialized for acne. Products that contain active ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can treat acne well. Also, make sure the skincare products you use are non-comedogenic, so they won’t clog your pores.

Utilize Skincare Ingredients Like Tea Tree Oil and Salicylic Acid

Some natural ingredients like tea tree oil have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that can help reduce inflammation in acne. In addition, salicylic acid can also help exfoliate dead skin cells and open pores.

Avoid Touching Your Face with Dirty Hands

Hands are a gathering place for bacteria and germs. Touching your face with dirty hands can cause the spread of bacteria and worsen the condition of acne. Therefore, it is important to always wash your hands before touching your face, Sereni-Trees!

Limit Makeup Use

Makeup that doesn’t match or contains heavy ingredients can clog pores and further aggravate acne. If possible, use “lighter” makeup or choose products that say “non-comedogenic” on the label.

Apply acne medication if needed

If the acne is very inflamed or shows no improvement after following the steps above, another way is to use medication (ointment, drink, cream) from a doctor. Make sure to use it regularly according to the rules!

See, there are many ways to get acne-free skin and squeezing pimples is not one of the safest, guys! Let’s change that habit and focus on treating and restoring your skin to keep it healthy!

Serenitree Natural Soap as a Body Acne Solution

Acne can grow anywhere, including the body! Indeed, the treatment is a bit more “tricky” than facial acne because the location can be difficult to reach. One solution is to regularly bathe using natural soap without SLS and Parabens from Serenitree. Available in 2 variants, brightening and soothing, this soap is rich in Natural Alpha Arbutin and Tocopherol which can relieve irritation, protect against infection and accelerate wound healing.

After regular use, you’ll have softer, brighter and more protected skin! Inflammation, acne and skin diseases such as eczema will slowly fade away. What are you waiting for? Let’s try it first!

Acne is common in every age group, especially pubescent teens and people with sensitive skin! You know, there’s more than one acne types right? Even the shape is not always as we know it, it’s not always red and lump-shaped. Although the origin of acne is due to oil blockage in the pores, each type of acne can also have other factors.

So, today Serenitree will discuss the most common types of acne. There are usually 5 acne types, namely: Whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, papules and cystic acne. Let’s read until the end, it could be that what you think is not acne turns out to be acne!

Whiteheads

Not many people know that comedo is a type of acne! However, comedo is the basic acne that first appears when our pores are clogged with oil, bacteria and dead skin cells. If not resolved, then the comedo will turn into other acne types.

Unlike blackheads, whiteheads occur below the surface of the skin when the pores are still closed. The characteristics of whiteheads are small bumps or spots of white color.

Why does it happen? Apart from pore blockage, this type of acne is commonly formed due to hormones. That’s why it becomes more prevalent when a person’s hormones are elevated (e.g. during puberty, pregnancy, menstruation).

We often see videos on how to extract whiteheads using tools. It does look satisfying, but it turns out that this method is not recommended! This will actually spread bacteria and worsen acne. Therefore, we should overcome this by washing our face every morning and night with warm water combined with a gentle cleanser. Don’t forget to use skincare with salicylic and glycolic acid!

Blackheads

While whiteheads are located below the surface of the skin, blackheads are pimples located above the surface of the skin!

You can see the characteristics of blackheads by the presence of black spots on the skin. The tip of this pimple is black due to increased skin pigment.

The reason for these blackheads is due to the buildup of oil, bacteria, dead skin cells and exposure to dust, or lack of skin hygiene. Almost the same factor as whiteheads, right?

However, it is a bit more difficult to treat than whiteheads. Serenitree highly recommends that you refer to a professional for safe extraction of blackheads (e.g. a facial). We can also prevent them by exfoliating diligently and using products with glycolic acid or retinol. Keep up with your hygiene to avoid blackheads!

Cystic Acne

This is known as “cystic” acne and is one of the acne types that has become inflamed. The causes are many, it could be due to hormones, excess oil production, facial hygiene or exposure to certain medications.

The characteristics of acne are redness and bumps that can continue to grow if the infection is not stopped. Usually the pimple will first feel soft to the touch (contains pus) and then turn hard (pus has hardened) over time.

As a result, these pimples are prone to leaving marks. These marks are also difficult to disappear! That’s why we don’t recommend squeezing them! Apart from being painful, it is also prone to spreading bacteria. The most effective way to treat it is to refer to a professional. You will have several alternatives depending on the level of inflammation, for example: steroid injections, retinoids and isotretinoin, and antibiotics.

Pustules

Just like cystic acne, pustules also have pus in them!

The characteristic is a red lump filled with pus with white in the middle. If touched, it can be painful so it feels uncomfortable. Teenagers are usually more prone to pustules.

Why do pustules form? The formation of pustules is due to inflammation that starts with clogged pores. The infection is generally caused by our immune system, namely white blood cells, to fight bacteria in the pores. That is what will then become pus in the pustules. Allergic reactions, hormonal changes and dirt on the skin can also be contributing factors!

For treatment, we can use topical acne medications containing salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or retinoids, take antibiotics and perform photodynamic therapy. Photodynamic therapy is a laser therapy that aims to eliminate acne and shrink oil glands.

Papula

The difference between papules and cystic acne and pustules is that they do not contain pus.

Generally, papules will be solid lumps that appear reddish with no white color in the center. The bump is small, approximately ⅕ of an inch. If not treated immediately, papules can turn into acne pustules in a matter of days.

The appearance of papules is a combination of follicle blockage, bacterial infection, stress, hormonal changes and excess sugar consumption. So to avoid this, make sure we always pay attention to the cleanliness of our hair, skin, and the balance of mental and physical health!

The treatment is more or less the same as for pustules, using topical medication and antibiotics. However, there are some additional things we can do such as taking birth control pills or hormone therapy. The function is to stabilize hormones and reduce excess oil/sebum production.

Natural Skincare and Acne

So, what is your acne type Serenitree Squad? Have you been successful in combating skin acne problems? Indeed, treatment will be much more difficult and longer than prevention.

Why are natural products superior? Obviously because the ingredients come from nature so there is very little risk of someone experiencing an allergic reaction or other negative side effects. As a result, the skin stays healthy and supple! Taking care of your skin is a form of acne prevention!

That’s why it’s best to prevent them as early as possible. Serenitree can support you in terms of natural treatments that are safe for the skin. The natural ingredients are very effective in combating irritation and keeping the skin moisturized! For example: Vegetable Glycerin that soothes irritation and protects skin from infection or Calendula Extract that regenerates dead skin cells to prevent build-up.

Let’s check out Serenitree’s skincare for a start! Once you try it, you just might get addicted to it!

Who says acne can only appear on the face? In fact, all parts of our body can get pimples and this is very common! Especially parts that we often ignore like our back. Of course, the cause of back acne is not much different from facial acne, basically because the skin pores are clogged. The blockage can be in the form of oil, dirt, dead skin cells and bacteria.

Instead of letting this skin problem interfere with our daily activities, let’s first find out the cause! Check it out Serenitree squad!

Common Causes of “Bacne” or Back Acne

As always, there are several factors to our skin problems. When it comes to back acne, here are the 5 common causes:

Lack of hygiene

If our pores can become clogged with free radicals, one of the reasons is lack of hygiene. Although the skin of the back is not always exposed to pollution and sun, it will still sweat and be exposed to other impurities. The difficulty of reaching the back area should not be a reason why we don’t take good care of it!

Trapped sweat

After strenuous activity and exercise, the body will produce sweat. If we don’t dry and rinse it off, the sweat can get trapped under our clothes. The result will be = back acne!

Backpack usage

The use of heavy and rigid backpacks can cause friction on the skin. Over time, the pressure and irritation from the bag can cause and even worsen the condition of back acne. Trivial but it turns out the effect can be negatively powerful!

Genetics, hormones and stress

Hormones are very influential in the growth of acne, especially those who are going through puberty and such. As with genetics, it’s all very natural. Stress level is one that we can control so that the mentality remains stable, the body remains healthy.

Friction from clothing

Apart from backpacks, rough clothing (e.g. wool) is also at the root of back acne problems. Irritated skin is very easy to break out. In addition, clothes with rough textures usually easily absorb oil and sweat from the skin so that it will eventually clog the skin pores.

So, those are the 5 reasons why, Serenitree Squad! Which habits should you pay more attention to and change? Don’t let it be taken lightly and lead to a more severe risk of inflammation!

Better to prevent than to find a solution, right?

Serenitree’s Back Acne Solution

Don’t worry, whatever the cause, there’s always a solution. Whether it’s normal or severe acne! For those of you who are struggling with “bacne” problems, you can try some of our solutions:

Keep clean

This is an obligation for all of us who want to live a healthy life! Make sure to shower regularly and always clean up after strenuous activities. Also, keep the environment and the clothes you wear clean.

Maintain stress and anxiety levels

A healthy mentality will prevent various health problems. Therefore, you can control your emotions by meditating or doing hobbies that you enjoy!

Pay attention to scrubbing/exfoliation routine

Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells. Scrubbing is a form of physical exfoliation by rubbing the skin. This process can only be done once a week maximum! Too much will cause irritation. It’s also not recommended to scrub acne areas! It could get worse later.

Acne is one of the most common problems on our skin. Usually this problem occurs in teenagers and adults. If we don’t handle it well, later it will cause a lack of confidence and even feel uncomfortable with appearance. In addition, there are also many stigmas that say that the cause of acne is only the puberty phase, even though it’s not just that!

For maximum prevention and control, it’s good to know first what acne is and the factors that cause it.

What is acne and where does it come from?

Acne can occur on any surface of the skin, be it the face, arms or even the back. There are several characteristic symptoms, some of which include reddish and festering bumps. These can form because our skin pores are clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and other particles.

This problem has background factors such as:

Excessive oil production

One of the main factors that cause acne is excessive oil production in the skin. The oil glands in our skin can produce different levels of oil. These oils can clog pores and form pimples if not treated properly.

Use of cosmetic or skincare products that are not suitable

Using skincare or makeup that is not suitable for your skin type can trigger reactions, such as acne. Some products that contain oil or certain chemicals can irritate the skin and trigger acne.

Hormonal Changes

This is very common especially during puberty because humans are undergoing hormonal changes. Increased production of androgen hormones can trigger oil production on the skin.

Unhealthy Diet

If you like to eat foods that are high in sugar and fat, then you are prone to acne. These types of foods can increase insulin levels in the body, which in turn can trigger acne formation.

Stress

This is the source of many diseases! Stressful conditions in the body can produce the hormone cortisol and can also reduce mental health. This decreases your immunity and makes you susceptible to many diseases, including skin problems.

It’s obvious, Serenitree Squad! The causative factor is not just one or two things. Therefore, to prevent and overcome it, first know what causes it. Don’t let this skin problem leave marks on the skin, it will be difficult to remove!

No need to worry, Serenitree will spill some of our tips for acne solution. Let’s take a look together!

How to Prevent and Overcome Serenitree-style

Prevention is better than cure! But if acne does appear, there are various solutions that you can use. Here are tips to prevent and treat acne:

Avoid touching your face or skin with dirty hands

Bacteria and dirt on our hands can be a precursor to acne. Especially if you scratch or squeeze pimples with dirty hands, it’s very risky!

Always cleanse the skin well

To keep our skin free from negative particles, we should shower and wash our face 2 times a day for normal/dry skin and 3-4 times for combination/oily skin. Make sure your face is clean from dirt/make up before going to bed using a safe cleansing product such as Serenitree Body Wash.

Use safe skincare

In addition to choosing products that are suitable for your skin, make sure that they don’t contain harmful chemicals. The negative effects don’t always appear immediately, but they can happen later on! We recommend natural ingredients to make it safer.

Reduce consumption of foods containing sugar and fat

Foods with high sugar and fat content can be a factor. Reduce consumption of foods such as dairy products, coconut milk, chocolate, cakes, fried foods, and fast food. Instead, consume healthy foods such as vegetables, fruits, and foods rich in vitamins and minerals.

Use special care

Along with the above steps, we also need to use special treatments or medications for acne. Usually these products will contain azaleic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

Consult a dermatologist

Relax, if other methods are not effective, you can directly refer to a skin specialist. That way, the drugs and treatments you get will certainly be more appropriate. So pimples and scars will disappear faster!

Well, Serenitree Squad doesn’t need to worry! Acne is common and normal. Let’s take care of our health and eradicate all skin problems together. Start your journey with us!
