Body lotion is the savior of dry skin! It can moisturize and treat the skin thoroughly. Not only that, there are also many special lotion products to brighten and even delay premature aging. Therefore, using body lotion is an essential part of your daily skincare routine! However, you should know that body lotion is most effective when the skin is still wet! Why is that?

Stay tuned to find out!

Why is body lotion effective on wet skin?

Do you often feel your skin dry out quickly even after using body lotion? Well, that could be due to wrong timing! It turns out that body lotion is more effective when the skin is clean and wet after bathing because it utilizes the concept of increased absorption as well as retention of skin moisture.

When we shower, the skin experiences increased moisture content due to exposure to water during the shower process. Skin that is still wet after a shower has better absorption capabilities as our skin pores are open and the outer layer of skin (stratum corneum) becomes slightly more permeable. This creates an ideal opportunity for body lotion application!

In addition, applying body lotion on slightly wet skin after showering can increase the effectiveness of hydration. As a result, the moisture we get from body lotion can be maintained better and longer.

This concept is backed up by chemical and physical principles, where water helps in enhancing the penetration of active ingredients in the body lotion. Water helps in the formation of tiny channels within the outer layer of the skin, allowing the lotion ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin. This provides more optimal benefits for skin health, including maintaining the skin’s natural moisture as well as providing nourishment and protection. This is the reason why using body lotion is more suitable when the skin is wet or moisturized.

How interesting! Who will try this new trick?

The Right Technique for Applying Body Lotion

Unfortunately in Indonesia, there are not many special body lotion products that we can use while bathing. But we can still find alternatives by applying to the skin after bathing in a moist / semi-dry state. Some techniques we can try include:

Make sure the skin is clean from dirt by cleaning the skin thoroughly . In addition, you should first remove hand jewelry so that the use of lotion is maximized!

Partially dry the skin by patting a towel over the entire body.

Take a small amount of body lotion and apply it evenly to all parts of the body in a circular motion or massage. Another tip, the massaging motion should be from the direction of the tip of the hand/leg to the top. This can help reduce hand and foot wrinkles. In addition, the direction of movement towards the heart also makes blood circulation smooth!

Try to focus on areas that tend to be drier such as the elbows or knees.

Wait for the lotion product to absorb before dressing! Otherwise, there is a high chance that the product may stick to the clothes and not be fully absorbed.

It’s so easy, isn’t it? For those with very dry skin, we can replace lotion products with body butter (more moisturizing). We should also re-apply lotion when our skin feels dry or if we are exposed to excessive air conditioning/cold weather. So don’t forget to bring Serenitree travel size lotion so you can easily carry it around!

Oh yes, one important note, lotions are not recommended to be used on the face, unless the product is specifically for the face. This is because the ingredients contained are too thick or contain ingredients that are too heavy. But we can still use this technique for facial moisturizers! Moisturized skin = easier to absorb!

When is the Right Time to Use Lotion ?

In addition to knowing the technique, we also have to know when is the right time and condition to use lotion. Of course, every day is the answer. Generally, the best time is right after a shower and before bed. But you can also reapply if your skin feels dry.

Even the weather factor affects frequency! Dry and cold weather is a good time to reapply lotion frequently to avoid dry skin. Whereas in hot weather, the frequency may decrease. But remember, even in hot weather our skin still needs moisture. An alternative we can try to avoid the “sticky” feeling in hot weather is to look for lighter textured lotions.

In conclusion, there is no silver bullet! To know which one works better, we should refer to these things.

Tips for Choosing Body Lotion

Not all individuals will be compatible with the same product, which is why we should do our research before choosing and using a lotion. The first and most important thing is to look at the moisturizing formulation. If you have dry skin, choose a body lotion that contains moisturizing ingredients like glycerin, shea butter, or natural oils like almond oil or jojoba oil. For oily skin, choose a lighter body lotion, such as one with a non-comedogenic formula or one that contains ingredients like aloe vera.

Instead, avoid products with ingredients such as parabens or fragrances that are too strong because these may cause the risk of irritation. Especially for sensitive skin or children who are usually more vulnerable.

The second is to be careful with exaggerated claims. It is not uncommon to see lotion products with claims of instant “whitening” or brightening. Although not always, such products generally contain harmful ingredients such as hydroquinone or mercury. These ingredients may provide instant effects, but at the risk of health problems such as hormonal imbalances or skin cancer. Alternatively, we can look for safe natural brightening ingredients such as licorice root extract and coconut oil.

The next tip is to pay attention to the texture and consistency of the lotion. Those of us with dry skin will need a lotion with a thicker consistency so that it can be more hydrating and long-lasting. Those with oily skin may need a light-textured lotion that is easy to absorb.

Lastly, make sure to always choose skincare products that are BPOM approved. This ensures that every product has been tested and is safe for us to use! Not only that, BPOM is also tasked with monitoring production so that the quality of the product is in accordance with health standards.

In conclusion, don’t let our negligence have adverse health effects! Most of the risks of dangerous skincare ingredients can be fatal. Although promised instant results, it will not be worth the risk. Let’s be a wise skincare user!

Hi Sereni-Trees, back again on the topic of skin health! Today we will be discussing one of the common problems that can occur, which is, skin allergies. Of course, everyone has tolerance and allergy problems to various ingredients. Did you know, there are more than 3000 ingredients that can cause allergies! That’s why it’s important to know what are the “threats” to our skin and how to handle them. Then there is another crucial statement, can natural ingredients be a “cure” for skin allergies?

Stay tuned to find out!

What is a skin allergy?

Skin allergy is an exaggerated response of the immune system to certain substances that are perceived as a “threat”. This reaction can occur when the skin comes into contact with foreign substances or is exposed to them. Each individual will have a different reaction and it’s not always the same! Symptoms range from rashes, itching, redness/irritation, to swelling and peeling of the skin area.

These symptoms can appear instantly or over time such as 1-2 days later. Remember, some allergies can be fatal! So make sure that we know our bodies better and always be prepared with an allergy “cure” to overcome!

Factors Causing Skin Allergies

The factors that cause allergies are vast! One of them is skincare ingredients. This is one of the reasons why we should always patch tests, especially before using a new skincare product. Other contributing factors include:

Cosmetics & Skincare: Makeup, lotion, deodorant, soap, shampoo, and hair coloring products.

Cleanser Products: Floor cleaners, laundry soaps, disinfectants, and detergents. The chemicals in these cleaning products can trigger allergic reactions on the skin especially when in direct contact.

Medications: Anti-itch creams or antibiotics applied to the skin. It is also possible that the cause comes from medications that we have to take.

Metal Accessories: Especially those containing nickel.

Plants & Animal Fur: Both pollen, leaves, and stem parts of certain plants can trigger skin allergies. The same goes for pet fur.

Latex: Rubber gloves, condoms and balloons.

Perfume: The scents and chemicals in perfumes can trigger allergic skin reactions, especially in individuals who are sensitive to certain substances in perfumes.

Apparently, allergies can come from anywhere, even from the products we use everyday! But take it easy, we can prevent all of them as long as we know what the causative factors are. How can we do this? Quite simply, we can monitor the symptoms and note the pattern of allergic skin reactions. Another way is to test the skin with a series of tests from a doctor or professional. We can also consult how to prevent and cure allergies according to our skin condition.

Let’s start caring about the health of our skin and always prevent unwanted things before they happen!

How to Prevent & Manage Skin Allergies

Prevention is easier than cure, but just in case, we’ll spill some ways to deal with it too! Firstly, once you have a clear idea of the causative factor, make sure to avoid contact with the triggering ingredient as much as you can. But if you must come into contact with the product, use a protective barrier to prevent direct contact with your skin.

If you are experiencing skin allergies, you can also, based on your doctor’s prescription and your symptoms, use allergy medications such as calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream. Other medical treatments include allergen immunotherapy. This method aims to increase the body’s tolerance to allergens that trigger allergic reactions. The process involves gradually administering very small doses of the allergen to our bodies that are allergic to a substance. For other medical treatments, we can further consult with a professional!

We also have several ways to alleviate the symptoms of skin allergies. We can use loose clothing and soft materials so as not to aggravate the symptoms. Another way is to take a cold shower or compress the skin area with a clean cloth. This can relieve symptoms of inflammation or itching.

Those are some ways that we can try! But if symptoms persist or even get worse, be sure to visit a doctor!

Can Natural Ingredients Act as a Skin Allergy “Cure”?

Natural ingredients have many positive benefits for our skin health. This includes reducing the symptoms of allergies! But to be a “cure” for allergies, it’s not quite right. We should still treat our allergies with specialized medications or appropriate medical treatments.

Therefore, natural ingredients are suitable for allergy prevention and daily skin care. One of the natural bodycare products without SLS, parabens, phthalates, added colors and fragrances, is Serenitree. Some of the natural ingredients of Serenitree bodycare products are beneficial to moisturize, provide protection, reduce signs of premature aging, including relieving symptoms of skin irritation. Here is a sample of the natural ingredients:

Sweet Almond Oil: Contains vitamin E which is good for the skin, has moisturizing properties and can help relieve dry skin and irritation.

Sunflower Oil: Full of antioxidants that help keep skin moisturized and reduce inflammation.

Olive Oil: Has moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Shea Butter: Has strong moisturizing properties and can relieve dry and irritated skin.

Calendula Extract: Has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that can relieve inflammation and heal small wounds on the skin.

Vegetable Glycerin: Helps lock in and maintain skin moisture.

Natural Vitamin E (Tocopherol): Is an antioxidant that can help protect the skin from free radical damage.

Lemongrass Oil, Lavender Oil, Grapefruit Oil, Bergamot Oil, Jasmine Oil: Has a therapeutic natural aroma and some of them have antiseptic properties.

Green Tea Extract: Reduces inflammation and helps keep skin healthy.

Licorice Root, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Natural Alpha Arbutin: Has properties that can help brighten the skin and reduce hyperpigmentation or dark spots on the skin.

Unhealthy skin will be more prone to allergic reactions or other problems. So, if you want to reduce the risk of skin allergies, you should start by maintaining healthy skin and immune system too! Also, don’t delay if the symptoms don’t subside and get worse. Remember that natural ingredients can only help reduce, not cure our allergies!

Not only the face, it turns out that feet can also become dry and cracked! This condition is generally harmless but can still be very annoying and cause discomfort! But it is possible that if we don’t address it immediately, the problem of cracked feet can also be an entry point for infections and other skin problems.

Therefore, it is important to understand the causes and ways to deal with this problem. In this article, we will be discussing the causes of cracked feet, how to prevent them, as well as tips for dealing with this problem, Sereni-Trees. Be sure to check it out!

What Causes Cracked Feet?

The skin on our feet and heels can dry out or crack due to external or internal factors such as dehydration or chronic illness. Therefore, first understand what the main causes are through symptoms or our daily skincare habits. Here is an example of 8 contributing factors:

Harsh Skincare:

The use of skincare products that contain harsh or potentially irritant ingredients can cause foot skin to become irritated and flake off.

Dry and Cold Air:

Dry and cold environments can reduce the skin’s natural moisture levels.

Prolonged Standing/Walking:

Activities that involve constant standing or walking can put excessive pressure on the skin of the feet. In some cases, excessive pressure from these activities can cause the skin to become dry and cracked, especially on the heels and soles of the feet.

Lack of Moisture & Cleanliness:

When feet are not properly cared for, such as not using moisturizers or cleaning them regularly, the skin is more prone to cracking.

Dehydration:

Loss of body fluids or dehydration can affect the overall condition of the skin, including the feet. Fluid-deprived skin will tend to become dry and prone to many other skin problems.

Incorrect Shoe Size:

Wearing shoes that don’t fit your feet properly can cause excessive pressure or friction on the skin of your feet.

Bathing with Hot Water:

Bathing in hot water can strip the skin of its natural moisture. Hot water strips the skin of its natural oils, leaving not only the skin on our feet, but also the rest of our body vulnerable to dryness!

Fungal Infections and Calluses:

Fungal infections and calluses can leave the skin of the feet inflamed and dry, which can eventually lead to cracking.

Of the 8 possible causes, which one do you think you do most often? Take it easy Sereni-Trees! We can heal and prevent this cracked foot condition as long as we follow the right tips. Let’s read the next info!

Prevent & Treat Cracked Feet from Now on!

Of course solutions are important, but it’s also important to prevent cracked feet before they get worse!

The first step, we can regularly exfoliate using a scrub or pumice stone. This aims to remove dead skin cells that can cause the feet to look dull and dry. Next, make sure you use footwear that is appropriate for the size and situation. For example, if we are going to exercise, use the right sports shoes and avoid wearing high-heeled shoes too often or for too long! Inappropriate footwear will also make us uncomfortable, right?

Next on the bodycare routine, use Serenitree’s gentle and gentle Body Wash during your shower. This is especially important for those with sensitive skin or prone to irritation! You don’t want to clean your body and end up with dry skin. Make sure to apply Serenitree Body Lotion after showering to lock in moisture. This way, the skin on your feet and heels will be less prone to cracking and will slowly return to smooth, moisturized skin.

Last but not least, internal hydration must also be maintained. It’s easy, we just need to meet our body’s hydration needs by drinking at least 2 liters or 8 glasses of water every day. Easy, right?

But there is one thing we need to pay attention to, Sereni-Trees! If the condition of cracked feet and heels is getting more consistent and worse, it would be better to see a doctor immediately.

Natural Moisturizer in Serenitree Bodycare

Olive oil works as a natural moisturizing agent that is rich in antioxidants. It can help protect the skin from environmental damage, maintain elasticity and keep the skin moisturized.

Shea Butter:

Shea butter is a rich emollient that is very popular in the skincare world for its ability to moisturize and protect the skin. The vitamin A and E content in shea butter can repair and maintain the skin’s natural moisture.

Vegetable Glycerine:

Vegetable glycerin is an effective and skin-friendly moisturizing agent. It attracts and locks moisture into the skin. Not only does it moisturize, it can also protect against infection, and accelerate wound healing!

Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil is rich in medium chain fatty acids (MCTs) and natural antioxidants. Not only the skin, this ingredient can also have a positive effect on other parts of the body such as hair.

Sunflower Oil:

Sereni-Trees, have you ever tried using various skincare but your skin is still dull? It could be that the cause of our dull skin is not from lack of skincare use! External factors such as UV exposure and lack of water consumption also have an effect. But don’t worry, we can still maintain, prevent and overcome to keep our skin healthy and glowing. This article will take an in-depth look at the causes of dull skin, as well as provide practical tips to brighten your skin. So, let’s start the journey towards a more beautiful and healthy skin!

Get to the root of your dull skin problem!

Before we move on to solutions and tips, it’s good to take a step back and reflect on what might be causing our skin to become duller. Is it from frequent exposure to the sun without protective gear? Or is skin dehydration the problem? To find out, we can look at the 8 factors that cause dull skin:

Sunlight: Excessive exposure to sunlight can cause skin damage. UV radiation can stimulate the production of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. As a result, if there is too much sun exposure without protection, melanin will be excessive and the skin will look darker and duller.

Dead Skin Cell Buildup: Over time, dead skin cells build up on the surface of the skin. This can cause the skin to look dull and lackluster. The process of exfoliation itself is beneficial to remove dead skin cells and allow new cells to emerge.

Air Pollution: Air pollution particles such as dust, dirt, and chemicals can stick to the skin. This can hinder the regeneration of skin cells and cause the skin to look unhealthy.

Stress: Stress is one of the most common sources of illness! It can affect the skin’s natural oil production. When stressed, the oil glands in our skin can become more active and produce more oil. This results in skin that looks dull and oily.

Sleep deprivation: Inadequate sleep disrupts the skin cell regeneration process. During sleep, the body repairs and renews skin cells. Lack of sleep disrupts this process!

Dehydration: Poorly hydrated skin loses moisture and appears dry. Not only that, dehydration can also affect skin elasticity. Already dry, it has the potential to age prematurely!

Not Cleansing Skin/Makeup Before Bed: Leaving makeup or dirt on the skin can hinder the skin cell regeneration process. Dead skin cells and dirt can get trapped in the pores. Apart from dullness, this can also potentially cause skin irritation.

Unhealthy Lifestyle: Health comes from both inside and out. Therefore smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and unhealthy diet can also affect skin health. Smoking, for example, can reduce blood flow to the skin, leading to premature aging, pale-looking skin and lack of radiance.

So, what is the root cause of your dull skin? To be more sure, we should consult a dermatologist, Sereni-Trees. The sooner, the better so that the dull skin problem is quickly resolved!

Prevent & Overcome With Serenitree Tips

Dull skin can make people feel self-conscious! It can certainly have an impact on other health issues, which is why we should prevent and treat it as early as possible. Now that we understand the various causes of dull skin, it’s time to tackle this problem with effective and safe measures!

First of all, sunblock is our main weapon in protecting our skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Regular daily use of sunblock will help prevent skin damage by UV exposure.

Also, exfoliation is an important step in skincare. Increasing the frequency of exfoliation to 3 times a week will help remove dead skin cells and trigger the regeneration of new skin cells. However, remember to choose products that are suitable for your skin condition! Make sure to follow your skincare routine by choosing a moisturizer that suits your skin type and use it regularly. Moisturizer is the champion in keeping your skin moisturized and preventing it from looking dull.

Not only external care, but it is also important to give our skin enough rest. Try to get enough sleep every night to support the skin cell regeneration process. Don’t forget that before going to bed, we should always cleanse our skin first (use double cleansing). This will ensure that the regeneration process runs smoothly without any obstacles from makeup or dirt.

For other recommendations, Serenitree suggests that we use a brightening mask twice a week and choose skincare with: Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Niacinamide, and Licorice root extract.

Lips play an important role in our daily appearance. Unfortunately, we often forget how vital it is to take care of them. Healthy lips are not just about physical appearance, but also about comfort and overall health. Dry, chapped, or even dark-colored lips can be a sign that they need special attention. This can certainly interfere with our activities and confidence! Hence, today we will understand the causes of dark/dry lips, how to take proper care of your lips along with natural treatment tips.

Interesting, right? So, stay tuned!

Know the Causes of Lip Problems

Lips are a sensitive area that requires special attention to maintain optimal health and appearance. Why? Lips have thinner and finer tissue compared to other layers of skin, allowing the color of the underlying blood vessels to be clearly visible. In addition, lips contain melanocyte cells (Producing melanin: the substance that provides color pigment). This difference in melanin production can result in discoloration of the lips.

Lip color is also affected by a person’s skin tone. The lighter the skin tone, the lighter the lip color. However, excessive melanin production or hyperpigmentation can make the lips appear darker than they should. Various factors such as sun exposure, smoking, medical conditions, and the use of certain medications can also affect lip pigmentation.

Meanwhile, chapped lips can occur when the lips lose their moisture and start to flake off. While it may seem trivial, chapped lips can cause significant discomfort, especially when eating or speaking. Factors that can lead to dry and chapped lips include excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages, illness, dehydration, nutritional deficiencies, and the use of certain medications.

Since the factors vary, it’s important to know the initial cause so that we can know how to take care of our lips according to our condition!

7 Ways to Take Care of Your Lips Serenitree

The key to lip care is a healthy lifestyle and the use of the right skincare products! If we regularly take good care of our lips, then we will succeed in preventing dark, irritated, chapped or dry lips! This is certainly better than having to find a solution, right? Here are 7 tips on how to take care of your lips from Serenitree, follow these steps:

Reduce Consumption of Caffeinated Beverages

Caffeine is a substance that can cause dehydration. Too much consumption of caffeinated drinks can reduce the water content in the body, including the lips. Therefore, try to limit the consumption of drinks such as coffee and tea. These drinks can also damage tooth enamel and change the color of teeth and lips!

Avoid Smoking

The chemicals in cigarettes can irritate the skin of the lips and reduce blood flow to the area, causing darker lip color and rough texture. In addition, this activity is also the source of all disease problems so it’s best to avoid it!

Avoid peeling or licking your lips

We often think that peeling or licking our lips can make them more moisturized. In fact, this can remove the natural protective layer and cause dryness instead! Doing this frequently will also worsen the condition of your lips and make them more prone to irritation and chapping.

Use Moisturizer (Minimum SPF 15) and Exfoliate Regularly

Using a lip moisturizer that contains a minimum of SPF 15 can certainly protect your lips from UV exposure! This is especially important if you are active during the day. In addition, we should regularly exfoliate with a special lip scrub to remove dead skin cells and improve blood circulation.

Take Vitamin E

Vitamin E has antioxidant properties that can help keep your lips healthy and moisturized. Vitamin E can be obtained through supplements or eating foods rich in this nutrient such as avocados, nuts and seeds.

Avoid Using Cosmetics with Harsh Ingredients

Some lipstick or lipbalm products contain harsh chemicals that can irritate or even cause allergies. Make sure to do your research and read the ingredients on the product packaging. Don’t let your intention to apply makeup turn into a risk of dark lips!

Drink enough water (at least 2 liters or 8 glasses per day)

Hydration is the key to healthy, moisturized lips. By drinking enough water, we maintain water levels in the body, including the lips. This can prevent dry or chapped lips.

It turns out that how to take care of lips is quite simple huh? Trust me, you won’t regret doing the steps above because it can also provide positive benefits for overall skin health!

Natural Ingredients for Lip Care

Natural ingredients can provide a million benefits to our health. Not to mention, the side risks are almost non-existent. This is one of the reasons why Serenitree uses natural ingredients for all its products!

Sereni-Trees can also try some tips on how to care for lips from natural ingredients. Most of them use ingredients that we can easily get too:

Honey

Benefits: Honey is an excellent natural moisturizer for dry and chapped lips. Honey also contains antioxidants and has antimicrobial properties that can keep lips healthy.

How to use: Apply a small amount of honey on the lips before going to bed at night or before outdoor activities.

Almond Oil

Benefits: Almond oil is rich in vitamin E and can moisturize dry lips and prevent chapping.

How to use: Apply a small amount of almond oil on the lips and massage gently before going to bed at night.

Sugar and Olive Oil

Benefits: A sugar and olive oil scrub will remove dead skin cells from the lips and improve blood circulation.

How to use: Mix sugar with olive oil and rub this mixture on the lips in circular motions for 1-2 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry gently.

An important note before attempting to do a treatment with these natural ingredients is to test for sensitivity first by applying a small amount of the natural ingredients on a small area of the lips. The function is to ensure that we do not have an allergic reaction or irritation.

Premature aging and other common skin problems are often triggered by factors such as an unhealthy diet, overexposure to the sun, and other bad habits. However, it’s important to know that there are always natural remedies that we can use to prevent and treat them! For example: Get enough quality sleep.

Without this, skincare can’t work properly to treat skin problems on our skin. Don’t believe it? Let’s take a better look at the relationship between quality sleep and skin health, Sereni-Trees!

Sleep process for body health

To understand the importance of sleep for our health, we need to explore the process first! Our sleep process consists of a complex series of stages involving brain activity, the nervous system and hormones. The first stage is the Non-REM phase, where the body goes into a light sleep, followed by a deeper sleep phase. At this stage, the muscles begin to relax and the brain waves slow down. Then, the body enters the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) phase where the brain is active and the eyes move quickly, while the majority of muscles go into temporary paralysis. In this stage, dreams most often occur. During the night, we experience several sleep cycles consisting of NREM and REM phases, which serve to allow the body to recover and prepare for the next day.

Hormone regulation and chemical products in the brain also play an important role in the sleep process. The hormone melatonin triggers drowsiness and helps regulate circadian rhythms. Growth hormone is released during sleep, supporting cell regeneration and physical recovery.

We need to remember that external factors such as light, temperature, and noise also affect sleep quality! Bright light can interfere with melatonin production, while comfortable temperature and noise support quality sleep. This makes it clear that quality sleep is indeed closely and positively related to overall skin and body health (both physical and mental)!

The importance of quality sleep for skin

Even though we fall asleep at night, it doesn’t mean our body stops working! Instead, when we rest, our bodies focus on repairing and regenerating cells that have been damaged either by exposure to pollution or otherwise. Some of the positive benefits we can feel include:

Skin Cell Regeneration: During sleep, the body performs the important process of skin cell regeneration. Old damaged cells are replaced by new ones, allowing the skin to stay fresh, free from signs of aging such as wrinkles and redness.

Increased Collagen Production: Adequate sleep gives a boost to collagen production. Collagen itself is an important protein that gives the skin strength and elasticity. It helps keep the skin firm and young.

Recovery from Sun Damage: Exposure to UV rays can cause damage to skin cells. Sleep allows the skin to recover from the adverse effects of sunlight and repair damaged cells.

Reduction of Dark Eye Circles and Redness: Getting enough sleep can reduce the appearance of dark eye circles and redness on the skin around the eyes, giving the face a fresher look. Say bye to, panda eyes!

Improves Skincare Absorption: Blood flow to the skin increases during sleep, allowing nutrients and active ingredients in skincare products to be absorbed deeper into the skin layers. In addition, absorption interference from external factors is minimized, so our skincare can wore more effectively!

Increased Blood Circulation: During sleep, blood flow to the skin increases, carrying oxygen and essential nutrients that support overall skin health.

It’s clear that there is a positive relationship between quality sleep and our skin health! It turns out that the “Beauty Sleep” statement is true! Think about it, we can get these benefits for free just by getting enough sleep. So Sereni-Trees, try not to stay up late. Always get enough rest to keep your body and skin in top condition in this super hot weather!

Is sleeping too long good for your health?

Sleep is indeed a key element in maintaining a healthy body. However, excess sleep can also have negative effects. Too much sleep can make a person feel weak and lackluster. It can also interfere with daily performance and productivity. Not only that, excessive sleep can also have a negative impact on mental health and increase the risk of health problems such as obesity and diabetes.

Children generally need 9-11 hours of sleep per night and adolescents 8-10 hours to support their growth and development. As for young adults, 7-9 hours of sleep is a sufficient amount to ensure optimal physical and mental function. For older people, 7-8 hours of sleep is the recommended amount. With age, it turns out that the need for quality sleep can change.

Too much or too little is not good, but it all comes down to individual circumstances and needs!

Do and Avoid These Things Before Bed!

Serenitree would like to give you some tips on what we can do to make the most of our quality sleep!

First, make sure you cleanse your skin gently with a skin type-appropriate cleanser with safe ingredients like Serenitree Body Wash (No SLS and Parabens). Next, use a toner to balance the skin’s pH. After that, apply skincare products that suit your needs, such as moisturizers for dry skin or anti-aging products and eye creams. Then we can consume 1 glass of water before bed to keep our body hydrated.

Then there are also things that we should avoid before bedtime, namely the consumption of caffeinated foods or drinks or alcohol, as they can disrupt sleep quality and affect the skin. In addition, avoid exposure to blue light from screens, as well as spicy or heavy fatty foods that can affect sleep and digestive comfort.

Sereni-Trees, we need to remember that this routine is good for our health in the long run. Therefore, besides using skincare and bodycare, we must always support it with good living habits such as quality sleep. Let’s prioritize our health from now on!

Blemishes or pimples are common skin problems that can be a source of frustration for many people. This skin condition often appears on facial areas such as the forehead or cheeks and chin. Apart from the face, pimples can also appear on parts of the body such as the back of our necks. This uneven texture can certainly interfere with appearance and make people insecure! What are the causes of these textured spots? In this article, Serenitree will discuss what a pimple is, its symptoms, its causes, how it differs from fungal acne, and of course, how to treat or prevent it.

Because if we don’t know the cause, it will be more difficult to get rid of pimples. So make sure to see it all the way through!

What are pimples and what causes it?

Pimples is a skin condition where small pockets of oil and dead skin cells form beneath the surface of the skin. Symptoms include the appearance of small, textured spots, especially in the T-zone area of the face, such as the forehead, nose, and chin. Sometimes, they may also appear along with redness or itching (depending on the cause).

Although the symptoms are similar, there are various causes of bruising! It could be because of:

Milia

A buildup of keratin-filled sacs beneath the surface of the skin. They appear as white or small spots that feel hard to the touch.

Blackhead buildup

Pores that are clogged with sebum and dead skin cells.

Allergic reaction

An allergic reaction to a skincare ingredient can cause inflammation or breakouts on the skin.

Hormonal changes

Hormonal changes, especially during puberty, pregnancy, or menstruation, can affect oil production by the skin glands. Excess oil levels can clog pores and cause bruising.

Air pollution

Continuous exposure to air pollution and harmful particles can lead to inflamed skin.

Lack of hygiene

Lack of hygiene can accumulate dirt, bacteria, and oil that can clog pores.

Excess oil content

Excessive oil (sebum) production on the skin that we don’t address can clog pores.

Unhealthy diet

A diet high in sugar or processed foods can affect skin health. Lack of nutrients and moisture can lead to skin problems including bruising.

There are so many factors that can make pimples appear on our face or other areas of our body! So before we move on to the solution, it’s a good idea to take a few steps back to analyze what the possible contributing factors are. That way, we can get rid of pimples from the root and prevent them from coming in the future!

Differences between Pimples and Fungal Acne

Often, people can’t tell the difference between pimples and fungal acne. The symptoms are slightly similar, whereas fungal acne generally appears in the form of clustered bumps of the same size, reddish in color, and causes itching in the sufferer. In contrast, pimples are generally different in size, scattered over the body, similar in color to the skin, and there is no itching.

Pimples usually occur due to the accumulation of dead skin cells and oil in the hair follicles (and various causes, see above), while fungal acne is caused by fungal infection in the hair follicles. This fungus can grow due to frequent covering, moisture and sweating; a hot/humid environment; immune system disorders, and too tight clothing. The solution is to use anti-fungal medication or wear loose clothing and maintain hygiene (always wipe off sweat and clean the skin).

So, confirm the symptoms first, whether Sereni-Trees has pimples or it’s fungal acne. Don’t get the wrong treatment and make your skin condition worse!

How to Prevent or Eliminate Pimples

To prevent it, it’s simple, we must routinely maintain the health and hygiene of our bodies inside and out. Always regularly clean, moisturize, and give our body ammunition in the form of nutrition and a balanced diet.

If pimples have already appeared, we can get rid of pimples by regularly cleaning the skin with a cleanser that is gentle and does not contain harsh ingredients. Clean skin is the beginning of healthy skin. Try to make sure that the cleanser you choose contains salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide.

This can be followed by exfoliation (chemical) using products containing AHA (alpha hydroxyl acid), salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and retinol. Exfoliation cleanses the pores and maintains the skin’s moisture balance without clogging the pores. But remember, we can only exfoliate once every 1-2 weeks depending on our skin condition.

Next, we can routinely use moisturizers with salicylic or niacinamide content that help reduce excess oil production. Especially for those with oily skin, try to choose light-textured and non-comedogenic products!

We can also turn to the help of your favorite dermatologist or specialist. You will get many medical options such as laser therapy, chemical peels, facials (blackhead extraction), or medication according to the diagnosis. Don’t forget to exercise and consume healthy food daily to eliminate pimples effectively!

Risks of Pimples that are not handled properly

Pimples are not a dangerous skin problem, but lack of treatment can actually worsen the condition of our skin! Pimples can become inflamed or spread, it can even become infected and leave scars. If that’s the case, treatment will be more difficult.

It’s not just the physical negative effects, pimples can make us more insecure and stressed. In addition, even if we cover it with makeup, it will still look textured or feel uncomfortable. Moreover, overuse of heavy makeup can even worsen bruising.

Getting rid of pimples does require patience and regular maintenance. However, as we’ve discussed, it’s not that difficult, right? It is important to choose your skincare products wisely and be consistent in taking care of your skin. The first step we can take now is to identify the causative factors before continuing to look for the right solution. We can do some research or consult a skin specialist (more effective diagnosis and treatment).

Try to treat it immediately before the symptoms get worse! Remember, skin health is a long-term investment. Make sure always to prioritize your skin health, Sereni-Trees! Hope this article helps you get rid of those stubborn pimples on your skin!

Is it possible for our skin condition to change drastically from dark to very light or white? We would say it’s impossible! But it turns out that in the medical world, there are skin conditions like that. The change in skin color is usually not comprehensive but can take the form of patches in certain areas. We also call this condition Vitiligo. Indeed, from the outside, it will look striking and different. But is this condition dangerous? Let’s find out more about what Vitiligo is, its causes, and how to treat it!

What is Vitiligo?

Vitiligo is a skin condition that causes the loss of pigment (melanin) from the skin, so areas of the skin lose color and appear white or very light. It occurs when the cells that produce melanin (Melanocytes), are damaged or lose their ability to produce pigment.

This condition can occur in any area of the body and can affect people of different races. However, it is most commonly found in people with darker skin. It’s not just on the skin either, some people with vitiligo also experience depigmentation of the hair, so that the hair growing in the affected area becomes white. Areas that are usually affected can be the lips, eyes, and hair.

So what causes our bodies to make such extreme changes?

Trace the Origins of Vitiligo

Actually, it is still uncertain and unclear what causes vitiligo. But there are some things that are suspected and contributing factors. Here are the suspected causes of vitiligo:

Genetic Factors

Vitiligo can be genetic or inherited. If there is a history of vitiligo in our family, then we are more likely to suffer from this condition!

Autoimmune Diseases

Vitiligo is also often linked to autoimmune diseases, where the immune system attacks and damages healthy cells. Some autoimmune diseases such as Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s disease, or type 1 diabetes can also increase a person’s risk of developing vitiligo.

Sunlight Exposure (Ultraviolet Radiation)

UV rays are already our skin’s natural enemies because of their negative effects! Too much exposure can trigger skin inflammation and accelerate the process of pigment loss.

Chemical Exposure

Certain chemicals or substances in the environment, such as chemicals in cosmetics or skincare products, may play a role in the development of vitiligo in susceptible individuals. Make sure to be wise in using products!

Stress

Stress can trigger various diseases in the body. Although the mechanism is not fully understood, stressful conditions can affect the immune system, triggering reactions that aggravate the condition.

In order not to increase the risk of vitiligo, we should prevent it by maintaining internal and external body health. For example, eating nutritious food (supplement if we need to), diligently using sunscreen, avoiding sun exposure, using products that are gentle on the skin, (Recommendation: Serenitree Body Care), and learning to manage stress well. Remember, prevention is better than cure!

But if you already have vitiligo, there are also several treatments you can try. Let’s see more!

Various Ways to Treat Vitiligo

Vitiligo involves a lack of melanin, so solutions using only skincare products will not be very effective. Vitiligo treatments include various medical methods that can be chosen based on the severity of the condition and individual preferences.

One common method is UV light therapy, where the affected skin is put through ultraviolet light therapy to stimulate and restore melanin production. Also, skin graft surgery is another option where healthy skin is transferred to the affected area to restore skin color.

For mild symptoms, the use of medications such as Topical Corticosteroids, Topical Calcineurin Inhibitors, and Topical Immunomodulators may also help improve the skin condition (as prescribed). It is also possible to try micropigmentation techniques that involve the use of small tattoos to adjust the skin color. Lastly, a blister grafting procedure may also be an option where healthy skin is taken from the unaffected area and placed on the affected area to restore skin tone.

But again, the best choice of therapy must be in accordance with the needs and conditions of each individual vitiligo! Therefore Serenitree strongly recommends consulting and discussing with a doctor or dermatologist.

Don’t be despaired, Sereni-Trees! There must be a solution for every skin problem!

Is Vitiligo Contagious or Dangerous?

Indeed, the condition of vitiligo is very striking and can be seen clearly. But is it bad for your health or is it contagious?

It is essentially NOT a dangerous condition in terms of physical health. It does not cause pain or serious health risks. We also cannot “infect” people with this condition through physical contact or exchange of everyday objects. The reason: Vitiligo is a skin problem related to the production of melanin pigment and is not associated with infections or other infectious diseases. The impact we can see is a change in skin color.

In addition, vitiligo also has a psychological impact. The drastic changes seen in the skin can make some people insecure and even experience anxiety and stress. This can worsen the condition and adversely affect overall health. This is why in addition to medical treatment, vitiligo sufferers must have strong emotional support.

We need to remember that whatever the color, texture, and type of our skin is, it shouldn’t make us insecure. As long as your body and skin are healthy, that is beautiful! There is a world-famous model who has successfully accepted her vitiligo condition, Winnie Harlow (America’s Next Top Model, season 21), and remains successful in her career. There are also many other role models who can be our inspiration!

So, don’t let your skin condition hold you back from achieving and being confident. We are all beautiful in our own way!

Serenitree Squad, have you heard about skin pH balance? Skin pH (hydrogen potential) balance is one of the key factors that determine the health of our skin! The slightest imbalance can lead to new skin problems. Moreover, the use of skincare products with different pH levels can also affect it! That’s why in this article, we’re going to talk in-depth about the importance of pH balance, how to know, and how to take care of our skin’s pH.

What is skin pH balance and its benefits?

Skin pH balance refers to the acidity or basicity of the skin surface. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14, where numbers below 7 indicate acidity, while numbers above 7 indicate basicity. A balanced pH level on the skin is very important as it affects the overall health and appearance of the skin.

The normal skin pH range is around 4 to 6. Skin that has a pH outside of this range can show imbalances, making it prone to skin problems such as irritation, acne, or dry skin. Therefore, knowing and maintaining your skin’s pH level is the first step towards healthy skin!

Why is this so important? Because skin pH balance has 3 important benefits for our skin, namely:

Protects the skin

Good bacteria on the skin can block the possibility of bacteria and other free radicals to enter. A pH level that is too alkaline will cause our skin to become dry or sensitive, while an acidic pH level will cause irritation.

Retains natural moisture

The skin has natural oils or sebum that help to retain moisture. High alkaline pH levels can strip away these natural oils, leaving your skin dry!

Fights infection & bacteria

Unbalanced skin pH will make our skin vulnerable and difficult to fight bacteria and external factors such as pollution.

This is why we must maintain the pH level of our face and body skin as a whole. But for that, we must first know what the pH level of the skin is, because everyone has different acid and alkaline levels!

How to Test Skin pH Balance

It’s easy to measure your skin’s pH balance! There are 3 methods that we can do. The first and easiest is to use a special pH meter. This is one of the most accurate ways to measure our skin’s pH balance! This device is specially designed to measure the acidity or basicity of the skin with high precision. Simply apply it to your skin and see the color on the indicator.

Secondly, we can do so by observing the condition and signs on our skin. Signs such as redness, excessive sweating, or discomfort can indicate a pH imbalance. Smooth, moisturized skin, without redness, and not dry can indicate a balanced skin pH. However, conditions such as irritation, acne, redness, or dryness can indicate a high or alkaline skin pH. But remember, this method won’t be as accurate as using a meter! So, Serenitree suggests that we should choose a more accurate method.

The most accurate and safe thing is of course we can directly consult our skin condition and check our pH level with a skin specialist. The specialist or a doctor can give us a comprehensive evaluation of the condition as well as advice on the right products and treatments. Of course, this is the wisest choice. But back again depending on our own circumstances and needs!

Skin pH Normality Levels

Each individual has a different skin pH level depending on skin type. In addition, external factors such as pollution, exposure to other products, or diet can also affect it. But don’t worry! By understanding the levels, we can know how to balance them and choose products with the right pH levels!

Oily Skin

Oily skin tends to have a lower pH, around 4 to 5.2. Therefore, skincare products specifically designed to control excess oil production will be of great benefit to those with this skin type.

Dry Skin

In contrast, dry skin tends to have a higher pH (above 5.5), ranging from 7 to 8. We should choose skincare with formulations to provide additional moisture.

Normal Skin

Normal skin usually has a balanced pH around 5 to 6. For adult women, the skin pH generally ranges from 4.5-5.7 while for adult men it ranges from 4-5.5 (Based on The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology). Even though you don’t need special care, try to choose skincare according to your pH level range!

Sereni-Tress, is your skin’s pH level normal? If not, don’t worry, we can slowly change the pH to be balanced with some positive routines.

How to keep your skin pH balanced

It’s quite simple! We just need to incorporate skincare habits and live healthier. Some of these include:

Using skincare according to pH level

Choose a cleanser with safe and non-harsh ingredients (Example: Serenitree’s natural body wash).

Use moisturizer and sunscreen regularly

Exfoliate moderately

Avoid bad habits and follow a healthy lifestyle

Maintaining pH balance and overall skin health requires cooperation in external and internal self-care. Healthy skin can balance the skin’s pH level safely and naturally!

How often should we check our skin’s pH level?

How often we should check the skin’s pH level depends on individual needs. If you have skin concerns or are trying out a new product, checking your skin’s pH regularly can help ensure that the product is suitable for your skin’s needs.

Generally, it is recommended to check your skin’s pH at least once or twice a month. However, if you’re experiencing drastic changes in your skin condition or using new products, it’s better to check as needed! To be on the safe side, you should still consult a specialist.

Let’s get into the habit of living healthy and taking proper care of your skin for future health investments!
