Eczema skin disease can occur on any area of the body, this includes the skin of the hands! It can have many causes and depends on which area is most exposed to the factor. Generally, eczema is inflammatory and can cause an uncomfortable rash. The areas of the hands that are often affected include the hands, fingers, and wrists. Why does this happen and what is the solution for us? We recommend that you read this article carefully, Sereni-Trees!

Recognize 7 Symptoms of Eczema on Hand Skin

We might say that eczema is one of the most common skin diseases. However, it’s more than just “regular” dry skin! If you experience dryness on your skin and it doesn’t show signs of improving with moisturizer, it could be eczema! Based on a study from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the symptoms of eczema on the skin of the hands, for example:

A rash that can be red, purple-brown, or dark brown in color (color variations depend on the skin tone

Mild to severe itching

Scaly and cracked skin

Small blisters that may itch or burn

Deep cracks in the skin (may bleed, depending on severity)

Wounds on the hands (potentially crusty / oozing)

Dry skin

Keep in mind that the severity of these symptoms can vary from individual to individual. So, it’s best to address and consult a professional as soon as symptoms appear! The sooner, the better!

3 Types of Hand Eczema and Their Symptoms

Well, there are roughly 3 most common types of eczema that can appear on our hand area. For example:

Atopic Dermatitis (AD)

For some people, hand skin eczema may be associated with more widespread allergic eczema. If this happens, the eczema could be a symptom of atopic dermatitis (AD), which tends to be hereditary. If Sereni-Trees has skin rashes along with allergies or asthma, you may also have AD.

AD itself is the most common type of eczema! It usually develops before the age of 5, but eczema rashes can come and go throughout our lifetime. The most common symptom is an itchy feeling. But if we scratch a lot, it can cause the skin to crack and change color. In some cases, symptoms can be so severe that they interfere with daily activities and even insomnia! How scary!

Contact Dermatitis (Irritation)

Contact dermatitis is a type of eczema that occurs when the skin reacts negatively to contact with a foreign substance. This reaction can happen almost immediately. Substances that can cause contact dermatitis include fragrances, chemicals, metals, cleaning solutions, and more. In addition, eczema can also develop due to the use of latex gloves or sensitivity to certain foods such as citrus fruits.

People in certain professions have a higher risk of developing hand skin eczema. Examples include hairdressers, healthcare workers, cooks, construction workers, plumbers, janitors, and machine operators.

Dyshidrotic Eczema (Pompholyx)

Dyshidrotic eczema, also known as pompholyx, is a type of eczema that only affects the hands and feet. Symptoms of this type of eczema include blisters on the palms, fingers, or soles of the feet. Dyshidrotic eczema can also cause the skin to crack and bleed. The blisters from this eczema can last for 3 to 4 weeks but before the blisters appear, some people may feel a burning or tingling sensation on the skin.

Those are the 3 types of eczema that can appear on our hands. Have Sereni-Trees experienced similar symptoms?

What is the Solution?

There’s a solution for everything! One of the first steps in treating hand skin eczema is to avoid the cause if possible. Tip from Serenitree: frequently apply moisturizing hand cream without fragrances and preservatives to help the skin heal. Product recommendation: Serenitree anti aging hand cream (no SLS, artificial fragrance, parabens and phthalates).

If symptoms are getting worse, consider consulting a dermatologist to discuss treatment options. For example, if the skin on your hands is very dry or cracked due to eczema, your dermatologist may prescribe a topical steroid cream to reduce the underlying inflammation. Topical steroid creams are usually only used for short-term treatment as they can make the skin thinner.

However, if a dermatologist suspects allergies or AD are triggering hand eczema, other solutions include oral antihistamines to help prevent inflammation associated with allergic reactions. Sometimes, very dry and cracked hands or blisters may lead to infection. In such cases, the doctor may also prescribe antibiotics in addition to other eczema therapies.

Again, depending on the underlying cause, sometimes the medical solution could be certain injections that might help treat eczema (including allergy shots and other medications).

Instead of misdiagnosing yourself, it’s better to take it to a professional immediately!

Handling Tips During the Healing Period

In addition to regularly using a gentle natural lotion such as Serenitree anti aging hand cream, you can take the steps below to help the healing process of eczema on the hand area:

Routinely apply hand cream immediately after washing hands

Wash hands with cold or lukewarm water and use unscented soap (recommendation: Serenitree body wash travel size)

Dry hands by gently patting, not rubbing them with a towel

Apply moisturizer to hands before bed and wear cotton gloves for better absorption.

Keep nails short and clean to prevent cuts from scratching.

Meanwhile, also avoid direct contact with irritants such as detergents, fragrances or other chemicals. If you are allergic, avoid the possible cause of the allergy. Last but not least, try to manage stress. Excess stress can worsen eczema symptoms!

In conclusion, the process of healing eczema is not easy. The most crucial part is identifying the underlying cause. Therefore, Sereni-Trees makes sure to consult the symptoms of eczema so as not to make mistakes in handling it. With proper treatment, eczema symptoms can definitely improve or disappear (it does not rule out the possibility of recurrence in the future). Hope this article helps!

First impression matters! Of course, the face is the first thing that others will see. That’s why it’s important to take care of the health and beauty of the skin. What is the right way to care for it? Understanding our skin type is an important first step to determine the right care routine. In this article, Serenitree will spill the beans on how to know your skin type and provide natural skincare advice accordingly.

Interesting, right? Let’s read until the end!

What are Facial Skin Types?

Facial skin type refers to the different characteristics and conditions of the skin in each individual. This includes moisture levels, oil levels, sensitivity and signs of ageing. By knowing our skin type, we can choose the right care products and treat our skin accordingly.

Why is this important for us to know?

Knowing our skin type can certainly help us understand our skin condition better. This allows us to make informed decisions in choosing care products, avoid irritation or more severe skin problems, and improve the effectiveness of our skincare regime.

Many factors can affect skin type, including:

Genetics: Genetic factors can affect moisture levels, oil production, and skin sensitivity.

Environment: Exposure to sunlight, air pollution, and air humidity play an essential role.

Age: Skin can undergo changes as we age, such as decreased elasticity and reduced oil production.

Lifestyle: Habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, and lack of sleep should be avoided!

So it’s not necessarily inborn, Serenitree Squad! Skin types can change depending on the conditions around us too.

How to determine your skin type

The steps to determine your own skin type are easy! If you are saving the cost of going to a beautician, you can really do a few ways below:

Step 1: Gently Cleanse Face

Start by cleansing your face with a gentle, non-irritating cleanser. Avoid using products that contain harsh chemicals or artificial colours.

Step 2: Wait 1 Hour

After cleansing, let the skin rest for 1 hour without using any skincare products. This will give the skin a chance to show its condition naturally.

Step 3: Pay attention to the T-Zone

Take a look at the part of the face known as the T-Zone, which is the forehead, nose and chin area. If you have oily skin in these areas, you might have an oily skin type.

Step 4: Pay Attention to Skin Moisture

Check the moisture of the skin by pressing gently on the cheeks. If the skin feels dry and stiff, you probably have a dry skin type. On the other hand, if the skin feels moist but not oily, you may have a normal skin type.

Step 5: Pay attention to skin sensitivity

Observe whether the skin is prone to redness, itching or irritation. Skin that is prone to negative reactions to products or environmental changes is commonly referred to as sensitive skin.

So easy, right? For those who don’t know what your skin type is, you can try these 5 steps first!

Getting to Know Different Types of Facial Skin

Now that you know your skin type, the next step is to understand the characteristics of the various common skin types. Here are 5 types of facial skin:

Dry Skin

Dry skin tends to lack moisture and feels stiff or dry. Dry skin often looks dull and is prone to wrinkles and fine lines. Proper care for dry skin involves intensive hydration and the use of products that lock in moisture.

Oily Skin

Oily skin has excessive oil production, especially in the T-Zone area. This skin tends to be shiny and porous. Treatment for oily skin involves controlling excess oil, good cleansing, and using products that do not clog pores.

Combination Skin

Combination skin is a combination of dry and oily skin. The T-Zone area tends to be oily, while the cheek area tends to be dry. Treatment for combination skin involves balanced care to address skin concerns in both areas.

Normal Skin

Normal skin has a good balance between moisture and oil. It looks fresh and healthy. Care for normal skin involves maintaining a balance and a simple care routine.

Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin is prone to redness, irritation or itching. It is prone to allergic reactions or irritation. Care for sensitive skin involves using products that are gentle, do not contain irritants, and keep the skin moisturised.

What type of skin does Serenitree Squad have? It’s important to know this because otherwise it will be difficult to get the right treatment. Instead of getting better, you’ll end up with more skin problems!

The Importance of Natural Skincare for Skin Health

Natural skincare like Serenitree used natural ingredients that do not contain harmful chemicals. Natural skincare can provide better skin health benefits, reduce the risk of irritation, and minimise negative impacts on the environment.

By involving essential oils, natural vitamin E and other natural ingredients, this type of skincare can help maintain skin moisture, fight aging, and provide nutrients needed by the skin. Plus, people with sensitive skin and children tend to be safe using natural skincare because there are minimal side effects!

Even so, we must still be careful in finding the right natural skincare products. Make sure to read labels carefully and look for products that contain natural ingredients and are free from harmful chemicals. Always do a small patch test before using the product in its entirety to ensure there are no negative reactions.

The natural ingredients we recommend include: Shea butter, Vegetable Glycerine, Tocopherol and essential oils such as licorice root or lavender oil.

Skincare Routine Tips according to Type

You know, each skin type also has its own care routine. Yes, it’s because the characteristics are different. Here are Serenitree’s tips especially for you:

Dry Skin Care

Avoid taking long showers or washing your face with warm water as it can dry it out even more! Also, try to use skincare without perfume and alcohol. Don’t forget to use a dense-textured moisturiser after cleansing your face!

Oily Skin Care

Since skin oil levels are high, you should wash your face regularly morning and night using a glycerin-based cleanser. After cleansing, choose products with active ingredients like salicylic acid and glycolic acid. One thing we should avoid is comedogenic products as they can clog pores!

Combination Skin Care

Avoid skincare with ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Instead, look for specialised products for combination skin. Specialised products can help reduce oil in the T-zone area while softening the cheeks.

Normal Skin Care

This skin type tends to be easier to find suitable treatments for. Usually general skincare can be used. The most important thing is to avoid skincare with too many chemicals, avoid rubbing your face too hard and use a soft towel.

Sensitive Skin Care

This one is a bit tricky because we need to know where our sensitive skin comes from first. However, it is safer to use natural, unscented and chemical-free products.

All of these routines must be topped off with twice-daily skin cleansing and daily sunscreen application. Remember, it’s useless to use skincare without an extra shield against UV rays! Finally, balance it with a healthy lifestyle because our body health and immunity also affect our skin health.

There are countless numbers of skincare in this world. You can find K-beauty, luxury skincare brands and many more genres from this industry. As seen from the number of specific consumer groups or niche markets, it is evident that fans of the skincare industry are very unique and infinite. There are a lot of skincare users regardless of their gender, race, religion or other backgrounds.

Regular use of skincare can make our skin slay, but that’s not the only reason why skincare is mandatory! Skin health should be our focus. Meanwhile, it is not that easy to immediately find safe and suitable skincare for everyone. Especially with the possibility that the products we choose contain “toxic” or harsh chemicals!

To avoid that from happening, it’s better to first read the explanation from Serenitree!

Effects of Using Harsh Chemicals on the Skin

In fact, the fierce competition in the beauty industry does not rule out the possibility that many skincare brands use harsh chemical compositions. Although not meant to create a stigma, the reality is most of these compounds can cause negative side effects on the body!

Basically our body, including the skin, is a biological creation. It’s logical that it is possible to react badly to man-made chemical compositions! Absorbed directly into the body and bloodstream, this chemical can make our body react. Initial minor symptoms may be in the form of: itching, redness and dry skin conditions leading to cracking on skin. Leveling up from the previous symptoms, the negative effects take the form of: infections, hormonal disturbances in the body, even the forerunner of cancer!

It’s terrible isn’t it? Of course, not everyone will experience the same symptoms. This all again depends on the strength of the immune system and different tolerances. One thing is for sure, too long exposure to harsh chemicals can certainly have a negative impact either temporarily or permanently on the body.

So are all chemical-based skincare bad? Are we forbidden to use it at all to keep the skin healthy?

12 Harsh Chemicals In Skincare

As we discussed at the beginning of this article, although harsh chemicals are bad news for the skin, there are some chemical compositions that we can use in certain doses.

To make it easier to distinguish which ones are bad and which are not, Serenitree is ready to spill 12 harsh chemical compositions that we must avoid.

Phthalates

This composition is commonly found in lotions and bath soaps. Negative side effects of Phthalates can be: endocrine hormone disturbances and developmental and reproductive toxicity.

Paraben

This composition is commonly found in lotions, moisturizers, shampoos, and deodorants. The negative side effects of Parabens can be in the form of: skin irritation, hormonal disorders, fertility and reproductive disorders and the forerunner of cancer.

Triclosan

This composition is commonly found in bath products and creams. The negative side effects of Triclosan can be: skin irritation, hormonal disturbances, impaired muscle function, and the risk of antibacterial resistance.

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS)

This composition is commonly found in bath products and facial cleansers. The negative side effects of SLS can be: skin irritation.

Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs)

This composition is commonly found in moisturizing products, sunscreens, and facial cleansers. The negative side effects of PEGs can be: damaging the body’s nervous system and the forerunner of cancer.

Imidazolidinyl Urea

This composition is commonly found in shampoos, deodorants, creams and lotions. The negative side effects of Imidazolidinyl Urea can be: allergic reactions and immune dysfunction.

Triethanolamine (TEA)

This composition is commonly found in sunscreen products. The negative side effects of TEA can range from: redness of the skin, itching, to burning and pain.

Sunscreen Chemicals

From the name “chemicals” sunscreen, it can be seen that the composition of chemical sunscreens relies heavily on chemicals for their effectiveness. The negative side effects of sunscreen chemicals can be: skin irritation, hormonal disorders and even skin cancer.

Synthetic Colorants

Synthetic dyes are one of the ingredients that can be used for color effects in skincare products. The negative side effects of Synthetic colorants can be: skin irritation, clogged pores, and the appearance of acne.

Synthetic Fragrances

Just like synthetic dyes, there are also synthetic scent options for every skincare product such as shampoo or soap. The negative side effects of Synthetic Fragrances can be: allergic reactions, rashes and breathing problems.

Polyacrylamides

This composition is commonly found in sunscreen, moisturizer, lotion, shampoo and anti-aging skincare products. The negative side effects of Polyacrylamides can be: the forerunner of cancer.

Hydroquinone

This composition functions to brighten the skin so we will commonly find it in skincare that functions for brightening. Negative side effects of Hydroquinone can include: redness, dry skin, pain and burning on the skin.

These 12 ingredients are 12 taboos that you really have to avoid, especially those with sensitive skin. For those who have already used it, let’s look for other alternatives to be safe!

Look for Gentle Composition for Skin

Chemical-based skincare, moreover the 12 ingredients that we just discussed on average can trigger allergies, disrupt hormones and are carcinogens (potential cancer).

Whether you have sensitive or normal skin, Serenitree highly recommends always checking the information on the skincare label before use or purchase. Ask the experts or browse the internet if you still don’t understand it well. Maybe it seems like an exaggeration. But, who will be responsible when there is severe damage to the skin?

To make it easier, try to find skincare made from natural and natural ingredients. Automatically the risk of allergies, rashes or other symptoms will decrease. Most natural skincare products are gentle so there is almost no risk of negative side effects. This is what you should be looking for, gentle skincare composition!

There are countless skincare brands out there that provide skin care with natural compositions and of course gentle on the skin. Serenitree is one of its examples. For sure, you won’t find 12 taboo chemicals in this brand. There are various options for your skin problems too!

So what are you waiting for? Choose Serenitree, instant hassle-free and natural skincare!

Our bodies will certainly be different from each other. Just like character and personality, every organ of our body inside and out will certainly have its own differences. From its condition to its type. Same thing applies to our skin! That’s why skincare brands out there have a wide variety of products for different skin types and problems. Some have dry, oily or a mixture of the two. This is a very unique organ of our touch. Besides that the level of skin sensitivity is different. Sometimes we also don’t realize that we have sensitive skin until the skin is reactive to the composition of skincare products. In addition there are also several factors that can influence skin sensitivity. Let’s dive into the meaning and causes first!

What Is Sensitive Skin?

Simply put, sensitive skin is a condition where the skin is more vulnerable so that it is possible to be easily triggered and cause negative reactions such as redness and itching. Not only that, most people who have sensitive skin are prone to itching, burning sensation, irritation, and redness!

What can cause our skin to be vulnerable? Here are some of the factors:

Skin allergy

Usually everyone’s allergies are different, yes. This can be caused by our immune system reacting to something. For example, an allergy to animal fur or dust. The effects of allergies can include itching, irritation, redness, swelling, and much more!

Disorders and wounds on the skin

It is normal for our skin to be vulnerable when it is injured or in the process of healing. That’s why we have to be careful in using skincare products when our skin is not in a healthy condition. Otherwise it might make things worse!

Very dry skin

As we discussed earlier, humans have several skin types. There are dry, normal, oily, or a combination of both. Sometimes there is a very high level of dryness so that it is susceptible to external factors. It’s best to check your skin type first so you can use the right treatment and products.

Weak lipid barrier

Lipid Barrier is the outermost protective layer of the skin which consists of cells and lipids. This layer serves to protect the skin from external stressors and keep water inside our bodies. A weak lipid layer can potentially reduce the function of our skin. Therefore we should use the most suitable product to prevent this!

External factor

Environmental conditions are external stressors that can influence changes in our skin! Examples are exposure to sunlight, wind or even extreme hot and cold weather. So remember to avoid extreme weather and conditions or use protection to avoid direct exposure.

Irregular lifestyle

In previous articles we have discussed how our bodies are interconnected. One aspect that supports skin health is a healthy lifestyle. We can start from a regular diet and exercise in moderation. With this, the body’s immune system can also increase!

Genetic factor

This is a little difficult for us to avoid because it is genetically in our body. Generally, pale skin will be more susceptible to this than those with tan or darker skin. But it can happen in some cases!

Serenitree Recommendations For Sensitive Skin

No worries! Whatever the factors that cause skin sensitivity, there must be various ways and products to deal with it! Here are some Serenitree recommendations that you can try:

Using special skincare

Try to use special skincare for sensitive skin! In general, the product consists of natural composition that is safe and gentle. One more thing, it is recommended to choose products which contain little or no fragrance. If you like scent, we recommend choosing a product with an essential oil composition!

Selection of skincare composition

You need to research and see the ingredients in the product before using it. Here are some ingredients that you should avoid, let’s take notes so you don’t forget: Strong synthetic chemicals, SLS/SLES, synthetic fragrances, antibacterial products, products containing alcohol, retinoids and AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids).

The use of products with a “calming” effect

Serenitree recommends that you choose products that have a calming effect on the skin. This is because sensitive skin can easily become inflamed. We can speed up the healing process of inflammation with skincare made from calendula extract, chamomile or aloe vera.

Skincare for skin barrier

It is very important for you to strengthen the skin layer to keep it healthy. For that you can use skincare with a composition of jojoba oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, sunflower oil, argan oil, borage oil or rosehip oil which can regenerate skin cells and protect the skin barrier.

Although not all, these are four most effective ways you can try to overcome your skin problems! As long as you are careful and consistent, you can control your skin problems with ease.

Don’t Be Insecure, Serenitree Is Here For You!

Of course, having sensitive skin can be annoying. You can’t use the wrong skincare and being exposed to extreme weather can also be dangerous! Even the founder of Serenitree, Sandra feels the same way. How difficult is it to find skincare that really fits and is safe on the skin.

The most important thing is that we should not feel insecure about our sensitive skin. Everything can be easily resolved, even if it’s a genetic condition.

The reason Serenitree exists is to make it easier for those who struggle with skin problems. Every product we provide is extremely safe for all skin types, especially those that need more attention. With ingredients that include natural ingredients such as calendula extract, coconut oil, sunflower oil and sweet almond oil, you don’t need to hesitate anymore! Effective and safe, that’s the motto of this brand.

So instead of feeling insecure and feeling hopeless, let’s try all the available solutions. Trust me, your efforts will not be in vain! Beauty does depend on what your skin type and type is. Healthy skin and positive thinking is the key to beauty. Turn your negative thoughts into positive ones, guys! We are all beautiful just the way we are.
