When stepping into a room, unwanted scents from the body can be an embarrassing problem. Body odor is a common phenomenon that can happen to anyone and certainly has a big impact on one’s self-confidence. It can even be uncomfortable and interfere with daily activities! Many people say that body odor comes from sweat, but is sweat really the only cause?

This time Serenitree will provide some information related to the factors that cause and tips for dealing with body odor! Because it turns out that body odor can also have an impact on skin health. Unfortunately, this problem cannot just disappear by using perfume or body mist. Therefore, we must overcome it from the root!

Sweat and Bacteria: The Combination That Creates a Bad Smell

Sweat is the body’s natural mechanism for cooling down. When we exercise or engage in physical activity, sweat glands actively secrete fluid from the skin pores. However, problems arise when this sweat interacts with bacteria on the surface of the skin. There are two types of sweat-producing glands: Eccrine and apocrine glands. The eccrine glands are located near the surface of the skin on almost our entire body while the apocrine glands are more specific to haired areas such as the armpits and groin. Therefore, this body odor problem often occurs in the folds of the body. Especially since these areas are covered!

If not cleaned, these bacteria break down the components of sweat into compounds that produce unpleasant odors. So, it’s important to wash your body regularly with antibacterial soap at least twice a day (morning and evening). You can use Serenitree’s calming/brightening body wash for this process. The body wash contains natural antimicrobial ingredients such as coconut oil and calendula extract, making it safe for all ages, even pregnant women and children!

Foods that Cause Body Odor: What You Eat Affects Body Odor

Not only hygiene, but what we consume can also have an effect on the cause of body odor! Some foods are high in sulfur compounds, such as garlic and onions. When these sulphur compounds are digested and processed in the body, they can be excreted through sweat and cause an unpleasant scent.

In addition, spicy and high-fat foods can also affect body odor. Reducing the consumption of these foods and choosing healthy foods can certainly help reduce the risk of body odor. The key is to reduce! Everything in excess is definitely not good!

Skin Health and its Role in Body Odor

Healthy skin is a contributing factor to body odor! On the other hand, unhealthy skin or problems such as fungal or bacterial infections can also be the cause of body odor, especially if the problem is not addressed immediately.

We already know that bacterial colonies left on the surface of the skin can control one’s body scent, hence diligent body hygiene is key. If there is a problem such as infection or fungus, consult a dermatologist/doctor immediately! Generally, treatment will be available based on the severity of the condition. Once the problem is treated, then we can focus on keeping our skin healthy so that body odor can be controlled!

Hormones and Body Scent Changes

Hormonal changes can also affect body scent! During puberty, hormones in the body change drastically, including the hormones that regulate sweat production. This is why teenagers are often more prone to body odor. Not to mention that teenagers are usually more physically active than adults! Automatically, sweat production is also higher.

Not just during puberty, women can also experience changes in body scent during menstruation and menopause due to hormonal fluctuations. But this is a completely normal phenomenon! Therefore, to overcome body odor, we just need to consume a balanced diet and maintain hygiene!

Personal Hygiene and its Impact on Body Odor

All skin problems or body odor will not be far from hygiene itself. Good personal hygiene habits are essential in avoiding body odor! Rarely showering or cleaning certain areas of the body can cause a buildup of bacteria and sweat, resulting in body odor!

It’s actually really easy to maintain personal hygiene. Simply shower regularly with soap according to skin type and maintain moisture with body lotion afterwards. In addition, you can also maintain cleanliness by wiping sweat, changing wet clothes or using clothes with breathable materials.

That being said, we should not be lazy to take a shower or you’ll regret it later when you have body odor! Prevention is easier than to cure!

Steps to Prevent Bad Smells

In conclusion, body odor is indeed a troublesome problem, but that doesn’t mean it’s unmanageable!

First, as we’ve already discussed, keeping your body clean by showering regularly is of utmost importance. Make sure to use antibacterial soap to kill bacteria that can cause odor. We can also add the use of deodorant or antiperspirant to reduce sweat production. The deodorant we use must be suitable for our skin type and tested first, otherwise it will cause skin inflammation/irritation!

Secondly, we can choose clothes made from breathable materials to avoid the accumulation of sweat that can cause bad odor. Also, avoid wearing tight clothing too often because it can cause sweat accumulation, and the skin is prone to hyperpigmentation (changes in skin color).

When it comes to maintaining body scent, we need to be able to recognize and address the root causes of body odor. Whether it’s a combination of sweat and bacteria, the food we consume, skin problems, hormones, and personal hygiene, everything contributes to maintaining body scent. Don’t let this problem go unaddressed and make you lose confidence!

Serenitree strongly recommends consulting an expert if the body odor problem does not disappear and increasingly interferes with your daily activities! Don’t be shy to find a solution!

A healthy diet is an important key to achieving a healthy and fit body. It also helps us look confident! But you know Serenitree Squad, apart from affecting overall health, the food we consume also plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin. Our skin is the first layer of protection from the external environment. Therefore, it is important that we pay special attention to a healthy diet that focuses on skin health.

This time, we’re going to talk about some important keys to optimal dieting. Be sure to read until the end!

What is a Healthy Diet?

The meaning of a healthy diet is a balanced diet that contains various essential nutrients that the body needs. This diet not only regulates the types of food we should consume but also pays attention to portions and meal frequency. The end goal is again to get all the nutrients the body needs without consuming excessive food that can have an adverse effect on health.

So, what does diet have to do with skin health?

As we age, our skin can undergo various changes. From wrinkles to dark spots, it’s all part of the natural aging process. It’s perfectly normal! But if you have the right healthy diet, we can slow down this process and keep our skin healthy and glowing.

The Key to a Healthy Diet

There are a few things that you need to understand before going on a diet. It’s an ongoing process so it’s important that instead of torturing yourself, you can enjoy the process!

Balanced Food Consumption

In a healthy diet, it is important to consume balanced meals that contain complex carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins and minerals. This combination of nutrients will help maintain healthy skin and provide enough energy for daily activities.

Avoid Processed and High Sugar Foods

Processed and high-sugar foods can cause inflammation in the body, which in turn can affect skin health. Instead, opt for fresh and natural foods that are better for skin health.

Increase Fiber and Water Intake

Fiber helps maintain digestive health and helps the body get rid of toxins. Water, on the other hand, plays a role in maintaining skin hydration and helps skin look brighter and fresher.

Food Portion Control

Portion control is important to maintain a healthy weight and avoid skin problems like acne. Avoid overeating and pay attention to whether you’re really hungry before taking additional portions.

Actually, the whole point of dieting is how we can be smart about it, guys! For example, instead of not eating at all, you can find healthier alternatives to sweets or reduce portions. Dieting doesn’t have to be miserable!

Nutrition & Food for Glowing Skin

There are several key nutrients that are essential for healthy skin. Some of these include vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A, omega-3, and zinc. Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen, which keeps the skin firm and elastic. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from free radical damage. Vitamin A helps in the skin regeneration process. Meanwhile, omega-3 and zinc help reduce inflammation and keep the skin healthy.

To get the nutrients that we have discussed earlier, there are several food choices that can be an option for us, namely:

Avocado: Rich in healthy fats and vitamin E.

Blueberries: High in antioxidants that help fight free radicals.

Nuts: A good source of plant-based protein for healthy skin.

Tomatoes: Rich in lycopene, which protects the skin from the sun.

Isn’t it easy to find foods that are rich in benefits? Nowadays, there are many ways to prepare them, and with the help of search engines, we can get delicious and healthy recipes that easily!

Which Foods to Choose and Avoid?

Not only skincare treatments, if you have certain skin problems, such as acne or dry skin, there are some foods that can help overcome them! For example, green tea contains catechins and can reduce inflammation in the skin due to acne. For dry skin, olive oil and salmon contain healthy fats that help keep the skin moisturized.

Meanwhile, pay attention to foods that are high in sugar, fast food, and processed foods because they can be a precursor to skin or other health problems. It’s best to consume as needed or just avoid it!

Another important thing to consume is water. Adequate hydration is the key to healthy, glowing skin. Drink at least eight glasses of water every day to keep your skin hydrated and help flush out toxins from your body. Besides that, we can really try the infused water trend! It’s easy, just add slices of fresh fruits such as lemons, oranges or cucumbers to plain water. Trust us, it will be more delicious and nutritious!

Factors Supporting a Healthy Diet

Of course, to maintain a healthy body and skin, diet must be supported by other factors. For example:

Exercise Routine

Exercise can help us maintain our ideal body weight and avoid potential diseases! Not only that, when we exercise, blood circulation increases. That way nutrients and oxygen can flow smoothly throughout the body, so the skin becomes more radiant.

Mental Health Care

Besides exercise, there are also various ways to deal with stress, such as meditation, yoga, or spending time with family and friends. Find the method that works best for you to reduce stress and keep your skin healthy!

Skincare Routine

Of course, skin health will need the support of skincare! Make sure to always clean your skin regularly using gentle products according to your skin type. Don’t forget to use sunscreen for protection from UVA & UVB rays.

Enough Rest

Did you know that when we sleep, our metabolism slows down, so skin cells can regenerate efficiently. Plus, collagen production also increases while sleeping. Are you sure you still want to stay up late?

At the end of the day, to have a healthy body and skin, we need all these elements to work together. It’s useless if you take care of your food but often stay up late and rarely exercise. On the other hand, what is the function of exercise if you don’t use skincare and still eat carelessly? Let’s be a better person, invest in our health from now on!

Hi Serenitree Squad! Did you know that animals such as reptiles and amphibians to insects also experience skin peeling? It turns out that humans do too! This exfoliation process is natural because that’s when our skin replaces the old layer of skin with a new one. But if we often experience peeling skin, is it still normal?

Again, there are many factors and consequences why our skin experiences peeling. Especially the parts that are often exposed such as the skin of the hands and arms. Therefore, first understand the process of skin peeling (skin desquamation/skin peeling)!

Why does the skin peel?

Skin peeling can be experienced by people of all ages. Totally normal! This peeling process will generally occur every 3-4 weeks. Its main function is to provide mechanical protection against infection, skin regeneration, wound healing and to maintain the smoothness and moisture of the skin.

Even babies can experience skin peeling although sometimes it is invisible to the eye. Children can still experience this process naturally and efficiently, unlike people who are getting older. As we age, collagen and elastin levels in the skin decrease making it more prone to dryness or peeling. Elasticity also decreases. Not to mention external and internal factors such as:

Environmental Factors: Excessive sun exposure without protection, humid and dry rooms, extreme weather (too hot or cold), and pollution certainly play a role. Especially for adults who do a lot of outdoor activities and traveling!

Genetic Factors: If you have hereditary conditions such as acne, dry skin or peeling skin, it’s harder to prevent. We can only treat them well or minimize them to keep our skin healthy. The main key: Be healthy!

Medication Consumption: Some medications such as acne medications that contain retinoids can cause skin peeling as a side effect. Make sure to consult first or read the usage method before using the medicine!

Skin Diseases: Other factors causing skin peeling can also be due to diseases such as dermatitis, skin allergies, bacterial infections, fungi, hyperhidrosis, skin cancer, autoimmune or bacterial infections. Diseases like this should be checked directly by a doctor so that they can be cured quickly!

Lifestyle: Habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, stress, lack of sleep, and unhealthy diet can affect skin health. These unstable conditions can make the skin prone to dryness and flaking.

In conclusion, peeling skin is natural! But if it is more than normal aka over peeling then we must be aware and treat it immediately!

Prevention and Treatment of Skin Peeling

Actually, this condition does not require special medical treatment unless there are symptoms such as itching and pain, widespread peeling, swelling or fever. These symptoms, especially if they occur in children and the elderly, should immediately consult a doctor! The doctor will provide appropriate treatment such as topical corticosteroid ointments, anti-fungal or ultraviolet (UV) light therapy and chemical peels.

To avoid that, Serenitree Squad can follow some tips from Serenitree:

Immediately apply a cold compress on the peeling skin area or take a cold shower.

Keep your skin moisturized! Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day and regularly use body lotion. Serenitree’s body lotion and hand cream can be used twice a day (morning and night) or more if your skin is very dry/peeling.

Never forget to use sunscreen when doing activities both indoors and outdoors. That way your skin will stay healthy and protected from UVA and UVB.

Try to choose a soap with natural ingredients that are gentle on the skin. You can try using Serenitree Body Wash brightening and calming variants first!

Avoid direct contact with chemicals such as detergents and floor cleaners. If you must, be sure to use gloves or other protection to avoid direct contact. Usually such chemicals are at risk of irritating the skin!

Sterilize the wound and cover with a non-stick medical bandage. Be sure to apply wound medication to speed up the healing process.

Don’t forget to adopt healthy habits like exercising regularly and avoid things like smoking. Smoking and drinking can accelerate premature aging! We must also keep our mental health in check.

One more important tip, don’t scratch the peeling skin! It may be itchy, but it can irritate and infect the skin. The peeling will get worse!
