Climate change has become a part of our daily lives, and its impact is felt in many aspects, including our skin health. Skin is the largest organ of the human body and serves as the main protector from the environment. Unfortunately, drastic changes in climate are affecting our skin in ways we never imagined! From extreme weather to air pollution, our skin is increasingly susceptible to damage. This article will discuss how climate change is affecting skin health and the steps we can take to protect ourselves. Stay tuned!

Why is skin vulnerable to climate change?

Human skin is very sensitive to environmental changes. This is because it acts as the main protective layer against external factors such as ultraviolet (UV) rays, air pollution and extreme weather. As the climate changes, the challenges for skin also increase. Hot, humid weather and air pollution can trigger various skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and premature aging.

The skin is not only the physical barrier of the body, but also an early indicator of any underlying health issues. When environmental conditions change, skin is often the first organ to show signs of damage. This makes skin a barometer for understanding how climate change is impacting overall health. Therefore, it’s important to pay attention to changes in our skin!

Impact of Air Pollution on Skin

Before we get into the climate, it’s important to know that air pollution affects the skin too! Air pollution, which stems from the burning of fossil fuels, is one of the main causes of skin damage. Tiny particles of pollution can penetrate the epidermal layer of the skin and cause inflammation. Studies show that air pollution can worsen skin conditions such as eczema and contact dermatitis. Continued exposure to pollution can also increase the risk of skin cancer. Wow, how horrible is that?

6 Extreme Weather Changes and Their Effects on Skin

Extreme weather, such as forest fires and floods, often brings additional threats to skin health. When forest fires occur, the air is filled with smoke and harmful particles that can cause skin irritation, eczema and even trigger allergic conditions. Meanwhile, floods bring the risk of skin infections due to water contamination, as well as exposure to fungi and bacteria that can cause skin diseases. In addition, other impacts can include:

Increased potential for acne due to allergy season

Climate change extends allergy season, which increases the amount of pollen in the air. This can trigger skin allergies and worsen conditions such as eczema. In addition, higher temperatures can cause excessive sweat and oil production, leading to increased cases of acne.

Premature aging due to UV exposure

UV exposure from the sun has always been one of the main causes of premature aging. With the ozone layer that protects us from UV rays diminishing, the risk of skin damage is increasing. Skin that is frequently overexposed to UV rays will develop wrinkles, dark spots, and lose elasticity faster.

Increased risk of skin cancer

Climate change, including increased UV exposure due to ozone layer depletion, also increases the risk of skin cancer. According to research, a 1 percent decrease in ozone thickness can increase the incidence of squamous cell carcinoma by 3 to 4.6 percent. In addition, air pollution containing carcinogenic particles also increases the risk of skin cancer.

Risk of infection and mold

Floods caused by changes in rainfall patterns carry the risk of water contamination that can lead to various skin diseases. Water contamination with chemicals, bacteria and fungi during floods increases the risk of skin infections. In addition, after a flood, excessive mold growth in affected areas can also trigger skin irritation.

Increased skin diseases due to infection

Climate change also increases the risk of skin diseases caused by bacterial, viral and parasitic infections. For example, Lyme disease caused by tick bites is now spreading to larger areas due to warmer winters. In addition, higher temperatures increase mosquito populations that can spread diseases such as dengue fever and chikungunya.

How to Protect Skin in the Era of Climate Change?

What is the solution? To protect our skin from the effects of climate change, we need proactive measures. Here are some ways we can take care of our skin.

Use sunscreen every day

Using sunscreen is the most effective way to protect your skin from UV rays. Choose a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and apply it whenever outdoors, even on cloudy days. Reapplication every two hours is also important, especially when sweating or swimming.

Protect yourself from air pollution

Always check the air quality before spending time outdoors. If air quality is poor, consider wearing a mask and keeping skin clean after exposure. Using an air filtration system in the home can also help reduce the impact of air pollution on the skin.

Keep skin moisturized

Extreme weather often leads to skin dehydration. Make sure to use a moisturizer that suits your skin type and drink enough water throughout the day. Well-hydrated skin is better able to combat the adverse effects of pollution and extreme weather. Another way to keep your skin moisturized is to shower regularly with a gentle soap, followed by a post-shower lotion. Can’t decide on the right body care? You can try Serenitree‘s natural alternatives!

Choose protective clothing

Apart from sunscreen, wearing protective clothing can also help protect your skin from the sun. Choose clothing with UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) and a wide-brimmed hat to provide extra protection.

In conclusion, climate change is definitely bringing new challenges to our skin health! From increased risk of skin cancer to skin conditions triggered by pollution and extreme weather. That’s why keeping our skin healthy has never been more important. By taking preventive measures such as using sunscreen, protecting ourselves from air pollution, and keeping our skin moisturized, we can minimize the negative impact of climate change on our skin. Let’s start taking care of our skin from now on Sereni-Trees!

Have you ever noticed small light or dark colored spots on your face, especially on the nose and chin area? Many people mistake these spots for blackheads, but actually, they might be sebaceous filaments. Although they may seem similar, sebaceous filaments have an important function in keeping the skin moisturized. This article will discuss the difference between sebaceous filaments and blackheads, as well as the best way to take care of our skin! Let’s take a closer look!

What are Sebaceous Filaments?

Sebaceous filaments are natural structures found within the pores of the skin. They are made up of oil (sebum) and dead skin cells that surround the hair follicles. Their main function is to help move oil from the sebaceous glands to the surface of the skin. This is what keeps our skin naturally moisturized!

Normally, sebaceous filaments are invisible, but in people with oily skin or larger pores, they can become more obvious. Their color tends to be light yellow or light gray, and they don’t turn black unless they undergo oxidation, which can lead to blackheads.

Are Sebaceous Filaments the Same as Blackheads?

There is so much misunderstanding between these two types of skin conditions, people like to think that they are the same thing. But no, sebaceous filaments are different from blackheads. Blackheads form when sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria build up and clog the pores. When the top of the clogged pore is open and exposed to air, the sebum inside oxidizes and turns black or what we know as blackheads.

Instead, sebaceous filaments function more as oil transporters and are not the result of a clogged pore. While they can develop into blackheads, this condition is usually harmless and part of the skin’s natural mechanism. So, don’t get it wrong Sereni-Trees!

How to Distinguish Sebaceous Filaments from Blackheads?

Here are some key differences between sebaceous filaments and blackheads:

Color: Sebaceous filaments are usually light or gray in color, while blackheads are black due to oxidation.

Size and Shape: Blackheads are usually larger and look like small, more defined bumps. Sebaceous filaments, on the other hand, are thinner and often more scattered.

Function: Sebaceous filaments function as part of the skin’s natural system to maintain oil balance, while blackheads are pores that are clogged with excess sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria.

Why should Sebaceous Filaments not be squeezed?

Many people feel tempted to squeeze out this skin condition in the hope of getting clearer skin. However, we don’t recommend this! Here are some of the reasons why:

The pore will fill up again: After we squeeze, the pore will refill with sebum in no time.

Risk of infection: Pore-pulling can lead to the spread of bacteria to other areas of the face, which can cause acne. Especially if we use dirty hands!

Potential scarring: Squeezing too hard or too often can cause permanent damage to the skin, including scarring and enlarged pores.

After seeing these 3 reasons, it’s clear that we shouldn’t squeeze them! After all, it’s not detrimental and is actually good for our skin.

How to deal with blackheads?

Unlike sebaceous filaments, blackheads can and should be treated. Some effective methods to treat blackheads include:

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is a popular ingredient in acne treatments that works by exfoliating the skin and keeping the pores clear. It is available in various forms, including facial cleansers and toners. Its regular use can help prevent blackheads.

Glycolic Acid

Glycolic acid is a type of alpha hydroxy acid that helps remove dead skin cells without drying out the skin. It helps prevent the buildup of dead skin cells and sebum, so pores don’t get clogged.

Retinoids

Retinoids are derivatives of vitamin A that help speed up skin cell regeneration. They work by reducing the formation of blackheads and acne, and improving skin texture.

Face Mask

Masks containing activated charcoal or clay (kaolin or bentonite) help draw out dirt, oil and bacteria from the skin. Regular use of masks can help clean pores and prevent blackheads.

Professional Care

If you have an intractable blackhead problem, treatment by an esthetician or dermatologist may be a solution. Some commonly used methods include pore vacuum and microdermabrasion treatments.

Alternatively, you can use natural ingredients. For example, Sweet Almond Oil and Olive Oil can help maintain oil balance in the skin, preventing pores from being clogged with excess sebum. Licorice Root and Niacinamide can help even out skin tone and reduce hyperpigmentation often caused by acne or inflamed blackheads. Vegetable Glycerine moisturizes and keeps pores clean, while Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant that protects skin from damage that can aggravate blackheads. Curious about the efficacy of these natural ingredients? Try Serenitree’s brightening body lotion first!

Serenitree Blackhead Prevention

Instead of dealing with them, it’s better to prevent blackheads. To avoid blackheads, it’s important to maintain a good skincare routine. Here are some prevention tips that you can try:

Wash your face regularly: Wash your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser. If your skin tends to be oily, consider using products that contain salicylic acid.

Exfoliate the skin: Exfoliate your skin once a week to remove dead skin cells that can clog pores.

Use a face mask: Use a face mask once a week to keep your pores clean.

Healthy diet: Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can help maintain healthy skin from within.

Consult a dermatologist: Visit a dermatologist regularly to evaluate the skin condition and get appropriate treatment.

Sebaceous filaments may look like blackheads, but they play an important role in keeping your skin moisturized. As annoying as it may seem, it’s best not to try to squeeze sebaceous filaments, as this can lead to other skin problems such as infection and scarring. Instead, it’s better to take care of your skin so that problems like blackheads don’t arise. Hope this article helps, Sereni-Trees!

Skin wounds can happen to anyone, at any time. Whether it’s from a minor injury or a major surgery, wounds often leave marks that we don’t want! They can form as part of the body’s natural healing process. But there’s no denying that many people look for ways to reduce or even eliminate them. In this article, we will discuss the common causes of scars, as well as medical and natural solutions to scarring. Stay tuned!

How do wounds occur?

Skin scars have a million causes, both intentional and unintentional. In general, scars will form due to factors such as these:

Physical injury

Physical injuries, such as falling, being cut by a sharp object, or having an accident, often cause wounds that can leave marks. The deeper and more serious the injury, the more likely a scar is to form.

Burns

Burns, whether from fire, hot liquids, or chemicals, can cause severe injuries and leave significant marks. These burns usually affect multiple layers of skin, so the scars that form can be deep and require effort to remove!

Acne

Acne is one of the most common causes of facial scars! Severe or inflamed acne often leaves scars in the form of hollows or dark spots. Especially if we have a habit of squeezing pimples!

Skin infection

Skin infections, such as chickenpox or boils, can also cause wounds that leave marks. When the infection causes the skin tissue to break down, the healing process can trigger the formation of scarring or keloids.

Operation

Scars from surgery are a natural result of the cutting and healing process of skin tissue. Although modern surgical techniques strive to minimize scars, some marks may remain visible. Especially in areas with intense skin movement. This is perfectly normal!

These are 5 common causes of stubborn wounds. Have Sereni-Trees experienced any of these?

Scar Formation Process

Scars form when the dermis layer of the skin is damaged. The body responds by producing collagen to repair the damage. This collagen forms scar tissue that often differs from the normal skin texture and color. There are 2 things that can affect scars, the first being the type of wound. A small wound may only leave a barely noticeable mark, but a deeper or serious wound may leave a prominent mark. Examples include: keloid or hypertrophic which are more prominent types of scars.

Second is the age and elasticity of the skin. Younger skin tends to be more elastic and may heal wounds better, while older skin tends to form more visible scars.

But again, the way we treat the scar can also have an effect! Prompt and proper treatment of the wound can help reduce the chances of a significant scar forming. Serenitree tips, use products such as natural moisturizers (recommendation: Serenitree calming body lotion) or antibiotic ointments recommended by your doctor.

Treat Scars Medically

We have 2 solutions for treating scars on the skin which are medical and natural. Some of the options for medical solutions include the use of:

Silicone gel or sheet

Silicone is a proven effective ingredient for flattening and softening scars. Silicone gels or sheets can be used directly on the affected area to help reduce the appearance of scars.

Steroid injections

For keloid or hypertrophic scars, steroid injections can help reduce inflammation and scar size. These injections are done periodically by a doctor. Be sure to consult first!

Laser therapy

Laser therapy can reduce the appearance of scars by stimulating collagen production and improving skin texture. While it cannot remove scars completely, it can make them smoother and less visible.

Dermal fillers

Sunken scars, such as acne scars, can be treated with dermal fillers. This filler fills in the sunken parts of the skin so that the surface becomes flatter. Interesting, isn’t it?

Microdermabrasion

This process exfoliates the outer layer of skin to smooth the surface of the scar. Although suitable for lighter scars, the results can be very effective when combined with other treatments.

Chemical peeling

Chemical peels use an acidic solution to remove the top layer of skin, encourage cell regeneration, and improve the appearance of scars.

Of course, all 6 of these solutions still require professional consultation so as not to take the wrong treatment and fix skin problems appropriately! Which one are you interested in trying?

Can Natural Ingredients Be the Solution?

Medical treatments are great, but they can sometimes be less of a solution due to the high cost. But don’t worry! Natural ingredients can also help disguise acne even though it’s not instant! Some recommended natural ingredients are:

Aloe vera

Aloe vera is known to have good natural healing properties. Aloe vera gel can be applied directly to the scar to soften and promote healing.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil contains antioxidants and may speed up wound healing by increasing collagen production. However, the results may be more effective on fresh wounds.

Lavender essential oil

Lavender oil may help in the wound healing process, although its effects on scars still require more research. Additionally, the scent of natural ingredients has a calming effect!

Apple cider vinegar

Some people use apple cider vinegar to reduce acne scars, although use caution as it can cause irritation. Make sure to do a patch test first!

In conclusion, the decision between using medical or natural treatments depends on the type and severity of the scar, as well as personal preference. Medical treatments often provide faster and more significant results, but natural remedies can be a cheaper and more accessible alternative. Don’t forget to avoid excessive sun exposure to the wound during the healing process! Hope this article helps!

Aloe vera is a popular plant in the skincare world! It’s been a natural remedy for thousands of years. This plant has many benefits, both for health and beauty. We can usually see it in products like gels, creams, and even supplements. Curious what are the positive benefits? Let’s read this article thoroughly, Sereni-Trees!

Natural Skin Superstar, Aloe Vera!

Aloe vera is a plant with thick, fleshy leaves. Inside, it contains a clear, transparent gel. This gel contains many active compounds, including vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids. Of course, these compounds have healing properties for the skin. Benefits include:

Healing burns

Aloe vera is famous for its ability to heal burns, including minor burns and sunburns. The gel from this plant provides a cooling and soothing effect. This can certainly reduce pain and speed up the healing process. For those of you who are fighting inflamed acne or skin inflammation, you can really use this ingredient because it also contains anti-inflammatory compounds that can accelerate skin tissue repair.

Moisturize the skin

One of the biggest benefits of aloe vera is its ability to moisturize the skin. Aloe vera gel is easily absorbed by the skin, making it ideal for both dry and oily skin types. Regular use of aloe vera can help keep skin moisturized, especially after bathing or sunbathing.

As a bonus point, aloe vera skincare products usually don’t leave a sticky and uncomfortable feeling! However, if you have very dry skin, you may want to supplement your skincare with other moisturizing products.

Overcoming acne

Experiencing stubborn acne? This natural ingredient has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce acne. Especially if the type of acne is inflammatory such as pustules and nodules. Using aloe vera on acne-prone skin can reduce symptoms of redness and swelling. Miraculous isn’t it?

Health Benefits

It’s certainly not just for skin health! Aloe vera is an important component for maintaining internal health. First, digestive health. Regular consumption of aloe vera in the form of juice or supplements can benefit the digestive system. This natural ingredient can help relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and improve gut health! Some studies have also shown that aloe vera can inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria such as Helicobacter pylori, a bacteria that can cause gastric ulcers.

In addition, we can also maintain oral health with this ingredient. Aloe vera products in the form of toothpaste and mouthwash can reduce plaque and inflammation of the gums. Not only that, aloe vera is effective for treating oral problems such as mouth ulcers and irritation due to the use of braces. Wow, that’s so great! Are Sereni-Trees interested in trying it out?

Usage Tips and Side Effects

Looking at the positive benefits of this natural ingredient, there are 2 ways it can be used. Examples are topical and internal use:

Topical Usage

To get the benefits of aloe vera, we can use it by rubbing it with skincare products made from this natural ingredient. But if we use it directly from the plant, simply cut the aloe vera leaves and take the gel. This gel can be directly applied to problematic skin, such as burns, irritation, or acne. Pst, you can even apply it to your hair!

Internal Usage

For consumption, we can add aloe vera gel to smoothies or make aloe vera juice by mixing the gel with water or other fruit juices. Make sure to consume aloe vera in reasonable amounts as overuse can cause side effects such as diarrhea.

Everything should be used in moderation, not too much or too little. While aloe vera is generally safe, there are some side effects that we should be aware of. Topical use of aloe vera can cause skin irritation in some people, especially those who are allergic to plants from the onion family, such as garlic or onion. It’s best to do a patch test or consult a dermatologist beforehand!

Not only that, we must also use aloe vera internally with caution. Aloe vera contains compounds that act as laxatives and can cause diarrhea and dehydration if consumed in large quantities. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children under the age of 12 should avoid consuming aloe vera without consulting a doctor.

Plant your own Aloe Vera!

Lazy to buy skincare products? Relax, aloe vera is a plant that is quite easy to take care of, it is not difficult to take care of at home. This plant needs about six to eight hours of sunlight per day and only needs to be watered when the soil is completely dry. Aloe vera is also very suitable for us to grow in pots, so it can grow both indoors and outdoors, depending on the climate. It can enhance the look of our homes too!

If you already have your own aloe vera plant, you can harvest the leaves for fresh gel. To do this, select a thick leaf from the outside of the plant, cut it close to the base, and then extract the gel. This fresh aloe vera gel can usually be used directly or stored in the refrigerator for a few days. It’s so easy, isn’t it? Let’s plant aloe vera plants at home!

Alternative Natural Materials

Are you allergic or not compatible with aloe vera? You can try some natural ingredients like coconut oil and shea butter. These two natural ingredients can moisturize the skin, have anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal properties. You can find bodycare products containing these two natural ingredients in Serenitree body wash and body lotion!

In conclusion, everything in excess is not necessarily good. So make sure to do your research first and be consistent in your daily skincare routine, Sereni-Trees! Hope this article helps!

Warts are a common skin problem that can affect anyone. They can cause discomfort, both physically and aesthetically. This condition can appear on various parts of the body and has various types and requires different treatments. In this article, we will discuss more about what warts are, their causes, how to prevent them, as well as effective methods to treat warts safely and naturally. Stay tuned!

Get to know the condition of warts, causes, and symptoms!

Warts are skin growths that occur due to the human papillomavirus (HPV) virus. Although warts are usually NOT dangerous, they can be very annoying and sometimes painful. Especially if they appear in areas that are often exposed to friction or pressure such as the soles of the feet or hands.

This condition is caused by HPV infection that enters the skin through small cuts or scratches. Now, this virus causes skin cells to grow faster than normal, creating a hard layer of skin, the wart. There are roughly more than 100 types of HPV, but only a few cause warts.

Common signs and symptoms of warts may include:

Small bumps that can be hard, rough, and mottled

Flesh-colored lumps with small black spots of clotted blood vessels

Ability to spread to other areas through direct contact

Even if it’s harmless, it’s best to see a doctor immediately and make sure that the skin growth is a wart and not another dangerous skin condition!

5 Types of Warts

Warts come in many different types, but the most common are 5 types that are often seen in ordinary people. Here are some examples that Sereni-Trees should learn about:

Common Warts (Verruca Vulgaris)

Common warts usually grow on the back of the fingers, toes, or on the knees, although they can also appear on other parts of the body. These warts have a rough, thick and grainy surface, with a rounded shape at the top. They tend to be more gray in color compared to the surrounding skin. They vary in size, ranging from 1 millimeter (mm) to 1 centimeter (cm) or larger, and can appear alone or in clusters.

Signs and symptoms:

Small hard, rough, grainy bumps

Flesh-colored with small black spots (blocked blood vessels)

Can spread to other areas through direct contact

Plantar Warts

Plantar warts grow on the soles of the feet and differ from other warts in that they grow inward rather than outward from the skin. This condition often makes walking uncomfortable. To be precise, there are two main types of plantar warts namely:

Myrmecia-type plantar warts:

The virus that causes this is HPV type 1. This condition can cause pain when walking and can harden with small black dots.

Mosaic-type plantar warts:

The causative virus is HPV type 2. They are usually flatter and appear in clusters. This condition does not cause much pain.

Flat Warts

Flat warts often appear on the face, thighs, or arms. They are small with a flat surface, as if scratched. These warts are more common in children and can appear in large numbers, even up to 200! That’s a lot! The color itself varies, it can be flesh-colored, pink, brown, or slightly yellowish.

Signs and symptoms:

Small in size with a round or oval shape

No pain

Often appears on areas of skin that are injured or scratched

Filiform Warts

Filiform warts grow around the mouth, nose, or neck, and sometimes under the chin. They are small and shaped like a thin, long skin flap or tag. They grow quickly and are the same color as the surrounding skin. They are also usually painless unless they appear in sensitive areas.

Signs and symptoms:

Small growths protruding from the skin

Same color as the skin

Fast growing

Periungual Warts

These warts grow under and around the nails of the hands or feet. They can affect nail growth as well as cause pain. These warts are usually small, but can grow larger and spread through direct contact. The surface is also rough and has a cauliflower-like appearance.

Signs and symptoms:

Rough growth around or under the nail

Causes pain as it grows in size

May affect the appearance of nails and cuticles

Those are the 5 most common types of warts. Most of them are harmless. But you should still recognize the type so that you can take the best treatment!

How to Treat Medically

Treating warts medically can be done with several effective methods. One of these is treatment using salicylates, which are chemicals often found in wart removal products. Salicylates work by gradually dissolving the wart layer, but this process usually takes several months for the wart to completely disappear.

Additionally, there is cryotherapy, which is a common medical method for treating warts. In this procedure, the wart is frozen using liquid nitrogen, which causes the wart to die and detach itself. This therapy often requires several repetitions to achieve maximum results.

If these methods do not work, laser or surgical removal of the wart may be a last resort. In this method, the wart is physically removed through surgery or destroyed using a laser. While effective, this procedure carries the risk of leaving scars in the surrounding area. So, make sure to choose the method that is suitable and best for your condition!

Can Natural Ingredients Help with Healing?

Although it won’t be as effective as medical treatment, there are also some natural ways to help the wart healing process. For that, we can look at some of the following natural ingredients:

Apple Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has acidic properties that can help dissolve the wart. Simply soak a cotton swab in apple vinegar and apply it to the wart, then cover with a bandage overnight.

Coconut Oil

These natural ingredients have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help maintain healthy skin and prevent infections. A must-try!

Shea Butter

Shea butter is a natural moisturizer that can keep skin soft and healthy, and prevent cracks that can be an entry point for viruses. Product recommendation: Serenitree body lotion.

In addition to using skincare products or natural ingredients, it is important that we prevent wart conditions by avoiding direct contact with other people’s warts or objects that may be contaminated. Always keep the skin moisturized and avoid nail biting or cuticle pulling which can open the way for the virus. Keep safety top of mind and consult a doctor as soon as symptoms begin, Sereni-Trees!

Not only because of sexually transmitted diseases, it turns out that oral herpes can appear even due to direct contact with sufferers through saliva or other objects. Of course, the symptoms of herpes make us feel uncomfortable and reduce our self-confidence. How can we find out more about this skin disease? Stay tuned to find out!

What is Oral Herpes and its Causal Factors?

Oral herpes occurs due to a viral infection and will generally affect the area around the mouth and lips (oral). Symptoms include the appearance of small fluid-filled blisters (cold sores) that can sometimes feel painful, itchy, or even a burning feeling!

A well-known causative factor of herpes in the general public is sexually transmitted diseases, but not oral herpes. Oral herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). The virus is highly contagious and can be spread through direct contact with herpes blisters, saliva, or objects that have been contaminated by the virus, such as cutlery, lipstick, or toothbrushes. Although the symptoms can bring us discomfort, the disease is usually harmless. But for people with weakened immune systems, it can become more serious and complicated!

The HSV-1 virus can enter the body through small openings in the skin or mucous membranes (e.g. inside the mouth). After entering, the virus will stay in the body and can become latent (dormant) in the facial nerve. Although not always active, the virus can recur at any time, especially when the body experiences stress, fatigue, or other health problems. How scary is that, Sereni-Trees?

Recognize the Symptoms of Oral Herpes on the Skin

The symptoms of this disease can vary depending on the severity and reaction of each individual’s body. However, in general, the symptoms of oral herpes can be divided into:

Fluid-filled blisters

They usually appear around the lips, mouth or nose. These blisters may burst and leave painful open sores.

Tingling or burning sensation

Before the blisters appear, the area that will be infected often itches, burns or tingles.

Pain when eating or speaking

Herpes sores around the mouth can make eating, drinking or talking uncomfortable.

Fever and fatigue

In some people, a first-time oral herpes infection may be accompanied by fever, headache or fatigue.

Keep in mind that the first symptoms of oral herpes are usually more severe than later flare-ups, as the body has not yet developed sufficient immunity to the virus. Even so, it’s best to get checked and consulted as soon as the first symptoms appear!

Avoid Doing These 2 Things

As we discussed earlier, oral herpes can be transmitted from direct contact. Meanwhile, there are several activities that we should avoid to prevent it. First, oral sexual activity or kissing with a partner who has the virus. In this activity, there can be an exchange of body fluids through saliva, so we can get infected easily. It can even spread to our genital area! Then, try to avoid sharing tools or personal items with just anyone, for example, spoons, glasses or toothbrushes. This also has the potential to transmit viruses other than HSV-1.

Therefore, be careful about sharing personal items! Always maintain personal hygiene!

How to deal with and the healing period for oral herpes

If this has happened, then we must cure this disease by consulting a doctor. Usually the doctor will give antiviral drugs such as acyclovir, valacyclovir, or famciclovir (reduces the severity of symptoms and accelerates healing). These drugs can be taken orally or applied in the form of creams, as directed.

We can also avoid the factors that cause it! Avoid direct contact with people with oral herpes and reduce overexposure to sunlight (especially without protection), stress or overexertion. Why? Stress can aggravate the disease and slow down the healing process!

Then, during the healing process we can do some of these things:

Take pain relievers, such as paracetamol (if necessary)

Maintain lip and oral hygiene

Apply cold or warm compresses to the injured area to relieve the pain.

Avoid consumption of warm drinks, spicy, sour and salty foods for some time (depending on the doctor’s direction and severity)

Herpes is NOT totally curable. Therefore, these measures are aimed at minimizing the risk of transmission. One important note that we must remember is that children are more at risk of contracting it, especially if their parents/caregivers suffer from the same disease. So let’s take care of our health and avoid oral herpes!

Is Oral Herpes the Same as a Rash?

Oral herpes can be caused by the HSV-1 virus, while the cause of the rash can be many things. For example, allergies or irritation. The symptoms between the two are also different. The rash does not take the form of fluid-filled blisters like herpes, but rather reddish, swollen or scaly areas of skin. The area where the rash appears can also spread across all areas of the skin exposed to the factor. In addition, rashes are not contagious and can be cured unlike herpes which can appear when our body’s immunity is lowered.

In conclusion, although both skin conditions are uncomfortable, they are still different, Sereni-Trees! A rash is more varied in its cure, symptoms, and causative factors.

Can you soothe oral herpes with natural skincare?

Herpes symptoms can be annoying, but don’t worry because during the healing process, we can also use natural skincare such as Serenitree calming body lotion. Complete with antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, natural ingredients such as Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Calendula Extract, Lavender Oil, and Lemongrass Oil, can indeed help soothe irritated or inflamed skin.

By combining this natural body wash and body lotion, uncomfortable symptoms can be relieved and help the healing process. Remember Sereni-Trees, healthy skin keeps skin diseases at bay. So, are you interested in trying this natural alternative to relieve the symptoms of oral herpes?

The emergence of multiple skincare trends and products that are increasingly mushrooming can certainly make us not loyal to just one skincare brand! How can you not, even when scrolling through social media, there are tons of skincare ads and promos. But really, are we better off trying multiple brands or just one skincare? To better understand the pros and cons for our skin, let’s explore further, Sereni-Trees!

Why the Skincare “Layering” Phenomenon?

Now we’re going to learn, what’s the appeal of mixing and layering multiple skincare brands? One of the factors could be the influence of trends and social media! In this digital age, we are familiar with the impact of social promotion, influencers, and beauty bloggers. Of course when they share their skincare routines, their fans will follow suit!

In addition, it can also be for other reasons such as:

More choices:

Using products from different brands gives you more options and different results. But it also requires a lot of trial and error based on your skin type or concerns!

Appealing to skincare lovers:

For those who review or love skincare, one brand is definitely not enough! Therefore, they will often explore and try new interesting brands.

Effectively solve skin problems:

There are no specific rules for skincare use. This means that we all have the freedom to try so that the results are more satisfying. However, we need to remember that there are some active ingredients that should not be used together. That’s why it’s best to do your research beforehand!

The completeness of a skincare brand:

We may like and get along with a brand, but they don’t have the products we want. For example, they only offer cleansers and moisturizers while we need sunscreen/face masks. This will definitely make us look and buy other brands, right?

These are some of the reasons including the benefits of “layering” skincare and trying different brands. Sereni-Trees, do you relate to these reasons? Are you interested in trying it out?

Negative Effects of “Mixing” Multiple Skincare Brands

Behind all the positive benefits, there are some negatives that can come from mixing and using multiple brands too often. This is why we should always be vigilant, because of the risks involved:

More research & trials are needed:

For effective and safe results, it takes a lot of experimentation and of course research into skincare composition. We have to understand a little bit about cosmetic chemistry to know how the pH and base composition of the product affect the coating of the product.

Risk of irritation:

Some ingredients can conflict and cause irritation when mixed, such as benzoyl peroxide with retinol or glycolic acid with vitamin C.

Not always effective:

There are skincare products that can clump together when “layered” or mixed with other products. Apart from irritation, this reduces the effectiveness of the product!

So, you can see that using multiple brands or mixing multiple products comes with its own risks. Are we allowed and encouraged to do so? Of course! But before that, Sereni-Trees should do some research first!

Pay attention to this before mixing skincare

As we’ve already discussed, mixing skincare is fine! The first step is to consult a dermatologist. It’s important to know your skin type and concerns. This can minimize the risk of irritation or bad side effects after using skincare.

Next, we have to do a little research on the ingredients of the skincare we use! Don’t let the active ingredients in certain skincare brands “collide” with each other. For example, Retinol and Vitamin C (irritating) or Benzoyl Peroxide and Retinol (irritating/dry skin). Although when used alone the active ingredients are effective in treating skin problems, it doesn’t mean that when we mix them together they can be more effective!

Last but not least, give yourself some time off when using a new brand. Our skin needs time to get used to new products in our skincare routine. At the very least, try not to use different new products in close proximity. Then we should also pay attention for about 3 months, does the product work well?

By taking these few steps, your risk of irritation or other skin problems will definitely decrease!

Can we mix or layer natural skincare?

Next question, what about natural skincare? The answer: you can! But don’t forget, Sereni-Trees. Even though they are natural, these ingredients can also collide with each other. For example, Tea Tree Essential Oil and Apple Vinegar. Both are great for acne, but because they are acidic and strong, they have the potential to cause irritation! Another example is Sugar Scrub and Clay Face Mask. Both of these products are great for exfoliating the skin! However, consecutive and continuous use can strip the skin of its natural oils and irritate the skin.

Instead of being confused, Sereni-Trees can try layering Serenitree‘s calming Body Lotion and anti-aging Hand Cream. Especially for those with sensitive and very dry skin! The Body Lotion contains natural ingredients such as Sweet Almond Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, and Calendula Extract to moisturize, soften, and protect the skin from free radicals. Meanwhile, the Hand Cream with Shea Butter, Niacinamide, and Avocado Fruit Extract soothes dry skin, brightens skin tone, and improves skin elasticity.

The good news is that all these natural ingredients are SAFE to use directly and consecutively. So, if you have very dry skin, you can use Serenitree body lotion first. After the product is well absorbed, directly apply the hand cream. Keep in mind that the texture of our hand cream is a bit “thick” for maximum hydration. Therefore, just use it as needed!

In conclusion, those are some of the benefits, side effects, and tips for mixing skincare brands. It’s actually safe, the key is just to be more vigilant because every skin type is different. So of course the benefits and effects we feel can be different! Don’t forget to stay vigilant!

The world of skincare is vast! There are different types of products for specific skin concerns and a variety of skincare ingredients available. Of the various classifications, two that are similar but not the same are vegan and natural skincare. The terms seem similar, right? Turns out these two things are different, Sereni-Trees! Want to know the difference? Read this article until the end, while gaining more knowledge about the natural ingredients in skincare!

Different Skincare Ingredients

Both smell natural, but why are they different? We can draw a straight line from the ingredients. A brand can be considered natural skincare if 50% of its ingredients come from natural ingredients and 10% from certified organic (non-harsh chemical) ingredients. As for vegan skincare, this type of skincare is also made from natural ingredients but without animal ingredients or 100% vegan!

However, we can’t just take a brand’s “claims” at face value. Even if it’s “natural” or “vegan”, it’s important to check the ingredient label to avoid harsh chemicals (such as parabens, phthalates, SLS). Because we need to remember, natural ingredients are NOT always free from chemicals! Psst, another tip for reading labels, generally natural ingredients will be located at the top of the label with scientific / Latin language while synthetic ingredients are located below.

Another important note, the more natural ingredients in a product, the longer the shelf life of the skincare will be (not as long as synthetic skincare). The logic is like food that has minimal preservatives, it will definitely spoil faster than those with high preservatives, right? So, make sure that besides the label, pay attention to the expiry date on the skincare product bottle before buying!

Explanation of Natural Ingredients in Skincare

Natural skincare ingredients have a broader meaning. Not necessarily derived from nature, natural ingredients have 4 types of classification, namely:

Pure natural ingredients: 100% natural, these ingredients still retain the shape and structure of the components. During processing without chemical reactions or processes. Examples include Olive Oil and Shea Butter.

Natural delivered: This ingredient has undergone chemical reactions such as fermentation or hydrolysis (addition of emulsifiers to preserve the natural ingredients).

Natural identical: This material undergoes a synthetic manufacturing process in a laboratory. Examples include Citric Acid.

Natural synthetics identical: Opposite of natural identical, synthetic molecules are made similar to natural chemicals such as glycol, but using natural ingredients such as sugarcane or corn extract as the base.

Turns out it’s not that simple after all! In addition, the source of natural ingredients is also divided into 4 groups, namely from plants, animals, minerals and marine. As consumers, it is very important for us to research the origin of the ingredients, but don’t forget that the manufacturing process is no less important! The best natural content is without eliminating the natural properties of the ingredients and does not harm users and the environment.

This is why it’s important to choose natural ingredients that have been laboratory tested to ensure they are safe and harmless from the formulation or manufacturing method. This will help skincare formulators learn about the properties of natural ingredients and reactions between ingredients.

Even though it is natural, it must have standardization and accountability! Therefore, we must be smart in choosing before using a product or choosing a brand.

Does “Natural” and “Vegan” Skincare Mean Cruelty Free?

This is often a misconception in the skincare world too! Skincare labeled natural or vegan is not necessarily cruelty free or free from animal testing. Because of the diverse world of skincare, there are labels from trusted organizations such as Leaping Bunny, Ecocert or Vegan Society. Their function is to “guarantee” that a skincare brand fulfills their claims. These certifications and labels are not easy to get, which is why they are so trusted in the skincare world!

Cruelty free itself means that a brand does not “torture” animals during the product manufacturing process. Examples include no animal testing or the use of animal-derived raw materials.

With that explanation, we can conclude that if a skincare product is made from natural or vegan will be guaranteed cruelty free if it already has that label. So, we should not be easily fooled and really make sure before buying a product, is it in accordance with our needs and desires? It is not uncommon for skincare brands to just “grab” a label without actually being certified. There’s nothing wrong with being careful, Sereni-Trees!

Serenitree Bodycare, Natural or Vegan Skincare?

Serenitree is a natural skincare brand that currently focuses on a range of bodycare. Confused about choosing a trusted local natural brand? We could be the answer! We are already BPOM verified, is labeled with No animal testing, No harsh chemicals, No added fragrance, No parabens, No synthetics coloring, No phthalates, and No SLS.

In addition, Serenitree has the Clean formulation label. The meaning of this label means that all the ingredients contained in all products and the manufacturing process have been tested to be safe for users or the environment (not always natural, the point is safe). Therefore, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, people with sensitive skin or skin conditions such as eczema, and children above 3/6 years old can safely use our products.

Last but not least, our products are also labeled with extracted natural ingredients. This means that the natural ingredients in the skincare have undergone an extraction process from natural sources such as plants or fruits. Of course, these natural extracts have been specially processed to isolate active compounds that are beneficial to the skin.

Sounds very effective and safe doesn’t it? In conclusion, choosing skincare doesn’t always have to be “organic”, “natural” or “vegan”. It all comes down to your needs, skin condition and preferences. Pay attention to the ingredients and the manufacturing process first, natural ingredients and synthetic ingredients are not always harmful or good. That’s why it’s important to do a patch test or consult your skin type with a professional. Don’t change and carelessly choose skincare and experience bad side effects later. Be a smart skincare user, Sereni-Trees! Hope this article is useful!

Who is already in their 20s and 30s? This is the right time for us to use anti-aging skincare so that we don’t experience premature aging! Especially for those who are active in the midst of busy hustle and bustle and city pollution. Nowadays, there are many anti-aging skincare with various ingredients, but for those of us with sensitive skin, it will certainly be more difficult to find a suitable skincare. Don’t worry, there are natural alternatives out there!

In this article we will also discuss which is more effective, using anti-aging skincare or directly consuming these natural ingredients. Curious? Check out this article, Sereni-Trees!

Coconut Oil

This natural ingredient is popular for its multi-functionality and effectiveness. Aside from the skin, you can also use it on other areas like your hair or as a natural make-up remover! The reason why this natural ingredient is popular is because coconut oil is rich in antioxidants and is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory (perfect for soothing irritation, inflammation or redness).

Other advantages include its moisturising ability (automatically preventing signs of premature aging) which can make skin more supple, radiant and moisturised. Last but not least, coconut oil is proven to stimulate collagen production. Skin elasticity and firmness will certainly be better maintained. Perfect for anti-aging skincare!

Tomatoes

Who says tomatoes can only be consumed? It turns out that this natural ingredient functions as a mask or one of the ingredients of skincare! Lycopene and beta-carotene in tomatoes can protect your skin from UV rays and reduce inflammation. In addition, we can also prevent signs of premature aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and aging spots.

One of the unique facts about tomatoes is that this natural ingredient can also reduce acne and hyperpigmentation. Are you sure you’re not interested in trying it?

Moringa Leaf

Not just any leaves, moringa leaves are rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, and flavonoids. No wonder why these leaves are effective in brightening the face, removing spots, increasing collagen production, accelerating cell regeneration, and fighting free radicals.

Other than skin benefits, this natural ingredient has also been used for traditional medical treatments, maintaining eye health, boosting the body’s immunity, and even being a potent dewormer! Of course we don’t need to doubt the good benefits anymore!

White Turmeric

White turmeric is more famous as a kitchen ingredient, but make no mistake, this ingredient is also famous for its benefits for the skin. The vitamin C it contains can improve texture and increase brightness levels naturally. Not only that, white turmeric contains vitamin E (an antioxidant) and hyaluronic acid that helps our skin stay moisturised.

Moist and healthy skin is certainly very important to avoid premature aging!

Grapeseed Oil

Apart from being rich in fatty acids, grapeseed oil also contains polyphenols which are effective in fighting the signs of premature aging. Polyphenols not only help slow down the aging process, but can also reduce the appearance of premature aging signs.

Additionally, this oil has natural astringent properties so your skin will look firmer and more supple. It’s also great for those of you with rosacea or eczema!

Avocado

Avocado is one of the most popular fruits for food, especially for those on a diet. But it’s no less popular in the world of skincare! Avocados are very effective in fighting the signs of premature aging, providing good hydration, and providing vitamin C, vitamin E, and omega-9 fatty acids.

It can keep your skin healthy and glowing! You can also use it through skincare or direct consumption!

Green Tea (Extract)

This tea drink has been a favourite of all ages for as long as we can remember, but it’s also good for our skin and body! Evidenced by its abundant polyphenol or catechin content, green tea is proven to be a great antioxidant, skin hydrating, UV protective, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and antimicrobial.

That’s why these natural ingredients often appear in anti-aging products. For those of you with rosacea, acne, and atopic dermatitis, this is a must try!

Is it More Effective to Consume or Use Anti-Aging Skincare?

We can see the power of natural ingredients for our skin health. Plus the point is, most natural ingredients can be consumed and used through skincare. But which one is more effective?

The effectiveness of anti-aging skincare versus natural anti-aging ingredients actually depends on individual skin preferences and conditions. Anti-aging skincare is often specifically designed to address the signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of skin elasticity. However, these products generally only address skin aging issues.

On the other hand, consumption of natural anti-aging ingredients can not only be good for fighting premature aging but also provide long-term benefits to the overall health of the skin and body. For example, antioxidant-rich foods such as green tea, tomatoes and turmeric can help fight free radicals so that our skin is protected from damage.

What we consume will affect the health of the body including all its organs. In conclusion, the effectiveness will be much higher if we combine these two methods. It’s like skincare works to take care of the skin and then we help by taking care of the body from within through the consumption of natural ingredients. If necessary, we can also add certain supplements to our daily routine!

Sereni-Trees must remember that the essence of glowing skin is healthy skin and body. That’s why we always remind ourselves to prioritise health over instant, temporary “beauty”. Good things don’t come easy!

Interested in trying an anti-aging skincare routine? You can start with Serenitree’s natural body care treatments (body wash, bar soap, body lotion, hand cream). Of course, they are free from harsh chemicals and have BPOM, so even pregnant women, mothers, and children (above 3 and 6 years old) are safe to use. Don’t forget to use it regularly and combine it with healthy food consumption and regular exercise, Sereni-Trees!

Acne is one of the TOP diseases and a common problem in the skincare world. It’s so common that we often think of rosacea as acne because of its similar symptoms! Even though they are similar, the causes and solutions we need will be different. The symptoms of rosacea may initially be harmless but if left untreated, there will be a greater risk. So, let’s recognise the symptoms early!

Difference between Acne and Rosacea

To better understand the difference between the two, we should first look at what symptoms acne and rosacea may present. Acne symptoms can resemble:

The appearance of blackheads and whiteheads

The appearance of inflamed bumps (papules and pustules)

Skin feels oily, especially in the T-zone area (forehead, nose and chin)

Meanwhile, the symptoms of rosacea can include:

Persistent redness of the face, especially in the cheek, nose, chin and forehead areas

Swelling of the skin

Visible blood vessels or fine lines on the facial skin

Burning sensation or hot feeling on the skin

The appearance of small lesions similar to acne, but no blackheads

Small, red, pus-filled bumps

Similar but not the same! One more significant difference is that acne usually occurs during puberty or hormonal changes, while rosacea is common in women aged 30 to 50 years. But it does not rule out the possibility that these two diseases appear unexpectedly depending on medical conditions and self-care habits, Sereni-Trees!

What are the contributing factors to the appearance of Rosacea symptoms?

The cause of acne can be due to the build-up of dead skin cells in the pores or hormonal changes. Whereas these rosacea symptoms can appear for other reasons! The cause of rosacea itself is not fully understood, but it is thought that genetic and environmental factors play an important role in its development.

In addition, there are several triggering factors that can trigger the onset of rosacea symptoms. Excessive exposure to sunlight, strong winds, and extreme changes in air temperature whether cold or hot, can all worsen the skin condition. Consumption of spicy food, hot drinks and alcoholic beverages can also trigger rosacea.

The use of certain medications, such as antihypertensive drugs that dilate blood vessels, as well as side effects from harsh skin and hair care products, can trigger or worsen rosacea.

In addition, strenuous exercise and high stress levels can also increase the risk of rosacea flare-ups. In order for us to treat this disease immediately, it is important to avoid the above triggers and consult a dermatologist for proper treatment. Don’t wait until your symptoms get worse to visit the doctor!

4 Types of Rosacea Disease

The symptoms of rosacea vary depending on the type and may appear and disappear over an indefinite period of time. The disease is divided into 4 types depending on the symptoms and severity.

The first subtype or erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR), symptoms include redness of the skin, especially in the centre of the face, as well as swollen blood vessels that make it more obvious. The skin may also feel sore, burning, dry, rough and scaly.

The second subtype or papulopustular rosacea, often causes acne-like spots, especially on the cheeks, forehead and nose. The blood vessels on the face remain visible, while the skin tends to be oily and sensitive.

The third subtype or rhinophyma, usually occurs in men and presents with enlarged facial pores, visible blood vessels and uneven skin texture. The skin on the nose may also thicken making it look enlarged, while other areas such as the forehead, chin, cheeks and ears may thicken.

The fourth subtype or ocular rosacea, affects the area around the eyes. Symptoms include red, irritated, watery or dry eyes, itching, burning, sensitivity to light, decreased vision, and the appearance of cysts in the eyes. The blood vessels in the eyelids may also become more visible.

Who knew the level of this disease could be so intense! Therefore, even if the symptoms seem insignificant at first, you should still be consulted in order to get the right solution immediately.

Serenitree’s Rosacea Treatment Solution

In order to avoid it, we can take some precautions such as being careful in the choice of skincare/medicines, avoiding the consumption of spicy food, hot drinks, and alcoholic beverages, protecting ourselves from the sun/extreme weather, and exercise gradually (increasing the intensity slowly). However, there are some factors that make it impossible to avoid rosacea such as genetic factors and other medical conditions.

If you have been infected, you will generally receive prescription medications such as antibiotics (doxycycline, to relieve redness/swelling), eye drops and antibiotics (to treat ocular rosacea), and acne patches (oxymetazoline, oxytetracycline to relieve redness and spots on the skin). Other treatments include laser therapy to reduce redness (caused by enlarged blood vessels). Of course, we need to remember that each treatment depends on the symptoms!

We can also accelerate healing and maintain healthy skin with natural skincare like Serenitree. Make no mistake, natural ingredients can help reduce the symptoms of rosacea, for example:

Lavender Oil: Has a soothing scent and anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe skin irritations.

Calendula: Has anti-inflammatory properties and can speed up the healing process of inflamed skin.

Vegetable Glycerin: It is a natural humectant that can keep skin moisturised and leave it feeling soft and smooth.

Sweet Almond Oil: Rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, sweet almond oil can deeply moisturise the skin and provide protection from free radical damage.

Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E): As a natural antioxidant, vitamin E can protect the skin from environmental damage and relieve inflammation.

The power of natural ingredients is indeed amazing! How to use it is no less easy! Simply cleanse your body with body wash twice a day, then continue with the use of body lotion while the skin is still moist. For those who are curious and want to try, let’s check the Serenitree website. We hope this article helps you overcome the symptoms of rosacea!
